He's actually a very good straight line skater, whether from a stop or from cruising speed, he is very quick to get to top speed. His tunnel vision is more of a result of not being a great skater going into turns and not great using cross overs coming back out of turns.

Labeling someone as not a good skater means many things, but don't let this lead people to think this kid isn't an explosive fast north south skater.

You don’t have to be an ass. To me if someone says a player will arrive in two years it means the second season from now.

Ready now means this season. Ready in one year means next season. Ready in two years means two seasons from now.

If someone says “he’ll be ready in year one” they mean immediately. If they say he’ll be ready in year two they mean the second season. That’s how I interpreted it. Clearly Liger meant otherwise and decided to be a Dick about it.

If that was said I would agree with you. But it wasn’t. 🤷🏻

Now

1 year

2 years

That is not how counting works. 1 year means immediately... what? Hey, this guy be ready in 1 year, oh so RIGHT NOW!?!?!? That doesn't make any sense.

2 years means they need 2 more year and at the end of that time they will be here. You called me a douche yesterday so yea, I am going to be a little salty towards you. I also gave you a link to the draft you want to watch so you're welcome.

I said what you said what douchey, I didn’t say you were a douche. That’s not how language works.

And 2 years from now doesn't mean next year. That's not how counting works.

Called the sample size thing

That is a concern although Rosen and Poltapov due seem to have good or decent underlying metrics. I don't hate anything but I don't love it. LA Kings on the other hand... love them and what they do.

I have no problem with either pick in a vacuum

Another reach? Don’t hate the pick but a lot to consider with what was there.

If this is true, we need this and need this badly:

"What stands out about Prokhor Poltapov is his confidence. Despite his small 5-foot-11 stature, he plays a power game. He takes a straight-line approach to driving play and is just as likely to try to go through an opponent as he is to go around him. He also has strong puck-handling skills and can dangle or toe-drag his way around opponents. It makes him a nightmare to defend against in 1-on-1 situations because he keeps defenders guessing whether he’s going to attack them, bull rush through them, or try to go around."

A guy who will go hard to the net and isn't afraid of a little contact...

Anyone seen any good movies lately?

Maybe we should all have a discussion on whether we are outside or not? Or whether 1 year is really 2 years?

To me, they are the best drafting team in the business right now, for sure.  Minnesota does an amazing job as well.

Sort of similar to Peterka last year.  I'm really fine with this pick.

I know a lot of stats really favor him. I always struggle with the Russians because it is hard to get much on them so I tend to leave them off instead of ranking them below where they should. Something to consider going forward. His MHL numbers are really solid.

For the curious, the plot's vertical axis is individual shot attempts per 60 minutes and the the horizontal axis is pass attempts through to or through dangerous areas per 60 minutes.

Could be a result of being the go-to player on a decent team in a weaker MHL league or could be a sign he's an animal with the puck.

Poltapov reminds me of Peterka.
