It will be the first time he’s been properly used in his Sabres career. Botterill was such a moron when it came to roster building. From your keyboard to god's screen. Quote

It would be interesting to know how much input Botterill has with Francis. Boterill traded for Miller, held on to him and a surplus of defenseman when we badly needed forward and goaltending help, and now the Kraken pick Borgen over Miller. The contract has something to do with it, and the fact that Borgen might have more upside. 1 Quote

He's a much better defenseman than anyone gives him credit for. If this team is good this season he's going to play a big part in that. He is. He also may be useful with proper usage & actual goaltending behind him. Am still curious to see if Adams manages to drop a 3rd or 4th rounder next year to get Borgen back. IF he does, then he worked the expansion draft masterfully as he'll have lost, what, a 15% chance of an NHLer in 4 years? AND he COULD actually get Borgen back for even less; a mere $500 should he get put on waivers. We MIGHT have watched the nearly perfectly played expansion draft; especially if he gets McCabe & Ullmark back in the fold. 1 1 Quote

If he's better than expected and makes the roster they win. If someone else surprises them on defense and Borgen is the odd man out they call Buffalo and ask if they want him back for a 3rd, if Buffalo says sure but for a fourth, Seattle wins. Quote

Or Buffalo just calls their bluff and lowballs them and waits for them to waive him or lower the ask. 2 Quote

Even with that they still don't lose. They don't win anything, but it's a low cost/low reward scenario. We didn't have much to offer, it shouldn't cost much to get it back. Quote
Radar Posted July 21, 2021 Report Posted July 21, 2021 Wonder how many potential viewers of the expansion draft have now chosen to do something else. Would think they've lost a substantial number. Quote
Buffalonill Posted July 21, 2021 Report Posted July 21, 2021 The NHL has to be irritated that the whole draft got leaked lol Quote

Digger Posted July 21, 2021 Report Posted July 21, 2021 7 minutes ago, Buffalonill said: The NHL has to be irritated that the whole draft got leaked lol It's hard to say. There has certainly been a lot of NHL buzz and discussion around Seattle all day today. It would have been a dull day if there were no leaks and consider that when the trade freeze lifts tomorrow the expansion draft will be quickly forgotten..................hopefully with some great trades for the Sabres.
