Risto trade returns

Well, if they get a solid prospect and a 2nd-rounder for Risto, that's a pretty decent return and probably enough to justify exposing Borgen.  Of course it will depend on how good of a player Borgen becomes.  I'm not sure that I'd want the Sabres to give up a mid-2nd-round pick plus, say, Portillo or Johnson for Borgen.

Ristolainen watch

The Sabres have some pretty solid interest from teams on Rasmus Ristolainen, who has one year left on his contract. The general asking price is believed to be a first-round pick and a prospect.

Among the clubs who have inquired are Montreal and Winnipeg, for obvious reasons. The Jets are scouring the D market from top to bottom looking for blue line upgrades, which everyone knew would be the case this offseason.

The Habs, of course, need to replace Shea Weber and in Ristolainen — while obviously an inferior player — there’s a similar big body at least. But I also think the Habs have a few other defencemen on their shortlist slotted ahead of Ristolainen.

Risto is getting at least a 2nd unless the player is of significance.

I think he gets more. I was just giving my own personal opinion.

The Jets need to shoot higher than Risto. There are rumors of Pulock wanting to sign here after next season and if they are true, I'd make a deal so Seattle doesn't draft Dylan DeMelo and wait a year.

Tempting and I would probably think hard about it if Rhino extended for something like 6 x 6.5m.

Rumors say Ristolainen has been all but traded to possibly Montreal, according to multiple people listening to ESPN Radio.

 

I hope its not Montreal because I'd rather not have to root for him to fail
