I'm actually ok with this.  I think Bales does a solid job and has improved Ullmark considerably and I think Girardi has so much practical knowledge of how a D can succeed in the NHL.

Girardi seemed to be good for the D. Definitely an upgrade from Smith, but that was a low bar. 

Still not sure what Ellis does.

No shocks here. They didn't change Granato, why would they change his assistants.

Thought i remembered a month or two ago one of the insiders (Dregs, Friedman, etc) said Ellis was basically a sure thing to return if Granato stayed, but Girardi may need more convincing cuz the Rangers might offer him something.. didn't hear anything since tho. I hope they're able to bring him back, young D core looked notably better by year's end

I think Ellis runs the pp and the forwards. He was a skills coach.
