“Meatballs” won’t last as a nickname for Granato. Because it’s a stupid nickname .

Speaking of, this reminded me of my hot take.

I hated the meatball video announcing granato as the coach.

Don Granato will win the Jack Adams award within the next 3 years.

I like it.

Do you actually think this or is this what you think would happen if KA drafted the players you want?

It could happen.

Yep.

For a guy who was touted as having "elite hockey sense" and "elite vision" his numbers certainly beg to differ.

Since his first full season (2015-16) he ranks 93rd in assists amongst all players.    Very disappointing for 2nd overall pick.

I agree with you on almost everything,... except for Reinhart.

Here's one:

The Pegulas are not terrible owners.  They are no more meddlesome than any other owners.  They have simply made some bad hires and had some bad luck.  If and when they get the right people in place (see Bills, Buffalo), they will be great owners.

If my aunt had a penis, she’d be my uncle. Ten years isn’t “some.”

I think it will last because it’s stupid.

- The Tank worked.

Absolutely, it did. We finished last in back-to-back seasons. Which netted us two 2nd overalls that we converted into the top-ranked centers (by general scout and TV talking head consensus) available at the time of our selection. And now... 4 times out of 7? seasons. We tanked and tanked and tanked most beautifully.

We are a tank. A big, tall, walking tank.

It's the next step after we've become the tank that looks like this:

What I believe to be KA’s dream scenario:

1) convince Sam to stay as number one center with an 8 year, $7 million deal

2) trade Jack to LA for top prospect and pick #8

3) turn pick #8 and Risto into pick #3

4) flip 1 and 2 with Seattle as part of deal for them not taking anyone they don’t want to lose

5) draft Beniers and Eklund.

6) sign true #2 defenseman to go with Dahlin

7) sign true #1 goalie although they still love Gibson and could trade for him

You can solve number 6 by taking Power in number two (if they have two picks it makes a world of sense to just stay at 1 and take Power). This fan base is severely underestimating the lack of high-end defensemen this team has or projects to have. You also don’t just sign them off the streets (Dougie Hamilton isn’t coming here).

Does he think he can get Byfield or are we looking at Turcotte?

If it’s a lucid dream type of thing, go on and get Byfield!

Is any of this informed by things you’ve been told?

For the time being, I'll trust Adams to make correct decisions as GM, over what myself and other fans want.  He has more experience in the league and around front offices, and of course has access to tons and tons more information than any of us have.

I could see 4) if Seattle wants the publicity and prestige of choosing 1st overall, and if the Sabres aren't convinced they want Power, but if it happens I would think it might involve a trade of someone from the expansion draft that the Sabres would like to add (would be interesting since the #1 pick never seems to be available in trade).

For 2) I would love to get Byfield and pick 8OA.  Byfield will never be as good as Eichel but he does look to be a good centre that we could build around with Cozens.  It is reasonable and a fair trade.  So is Zegras and 3OA.  So is Rossi and Boldy.

I agree with 5) drafting Beniers and Eklund but it wouldn't surprise me if they choose a D (Power, Hughes, Clarke) if they get another high pick depending on what pick and who is available.

6) absolutely.  They really need some leadership on the blue line to help the younger guys and stabilize the D overall.  I'm hoping assistant Dan Girardi has some positive influence here for our D corps next year.

7) goalies - yes I hope his is addressed this season.  It's been a weakness for us.  Ullmark is good and I hope that we resign him but he does seem prone to injury when getting played too much.  Need 2 reliable starters.

Could mean a #2 to pair with Dahlin (a right shot) and not just a "#2"
