Colorado is not built similarly.  Both teams have talented forwards, yes, but Avs have more F-D balance and their contract structures are nothing alike.  Colorado does not have the top heavy, “stars and scrubs” structure that Toronto does.

McKinnon and Landeskog are on ridiculous contracts, nearly making half of their peers.  They are the unicorn, some teams get lucky this way, but it’s rare that teams are able to lock up MVP type talent at half their value.
