Brawndo Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 (edited) They were extremely unwatchable at times Edited May 27, 2021 by Brawndo 1 Quote
Thorner Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 This is pretty good news if you believe the fans will come back with a winning team, and I do believe that. 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 Unwatchable garbage. Thanks Kim and Terry. A monkey with a type writer could draft better than this team has in the last decade. Quote
Radar Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 Not surprised. Should anyone be? Maybe owners should take note. 1 Quote

DarthEbriate Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 I'm surprised it took this long for the ratings to plummet. 1 Quote
pastajoe Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 And in a year when due to Covid there wasn’t much else to do, that’s pretty bad. 2 Quote

Cascade Youth Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 And if they measured "sober viewership," the drop would be even steeper. 1 2 Quote
CallawaySabres Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 3rd year in a row I probably watched less than 5 games per year from start to finish.....and I was one of their biggest fans up until then. If I dropped off, the casual fan has tuned out conpletely. 4 Quote
Marvin Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 If I only have it on while doing something else, the casual fan has got to be long gone. You have an unwatchable team losing over and over and over again, chaotic management, players wanting out, etc. It is amazing this took so long. 2 Quote
pastajoe Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 I will say that once Granato took over they were at least entertaining, and I was interested in seeing the new kids play. But by then they already lost a lot of viewers who didn’t come back. 1 Quote

I did find after the coaching change the team to be much easier to watch. 1 Quote
inkman Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 This was the first season since I started watching where I actively chose to not watch their games. 2 Quote
I-90 W Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 I’m partially to blame, I admit I don’t really watch the games anymore. As a busy husband/ father who works nights and is a volunteer ff there is only so much time in a day... not worth making the sacrifice to see the product that ownership is icing. 3 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 LOL, what did they expect? I'm surprised it wasn't greater. My guess is that late season play improved even worse numbers. Quote
Brawndo Posted May 27, 2021 Author Report Posted May 27, 2021 This His the Potential to hurt them in terms of advertising revenue next season. I imagine advertising partners are going to want to reduce fees if 35% less people are watching Quote
msw2112 Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 I grew up in the Buffalo area, attending many games and watching most of the others on TV. I have lived outside of the market for a number of years now, but I am willing to spend the money for the NHL Center Ice package so that I can watch my beloved Sabres. That said, I only pony up the money for it if I believe the team is competitive and it is worth investing my time (and money) to watch the games. It's been a long time since I have spent that money. Every year, I'm open to it and will be next year too. Is there a point at which I'm done and no longer open to it? I haven't gotten there yet, but who knows what the future will hold. 1 Quote

Gatorman0519 Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 Imagine what the season ticket sales will be. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted May 27, 2021 Report Posted May 27, 2021 I think only a 35% drop is pretty flattering too. If it wasn't a pandemic you'd probably see even lower numbers. I know I only watched some nights cause I had nowhere else to go anyway. next season it has to be better to get me interested. Quote
