Is this really going to be a thing?

Can't we just be happy that we have two promising prospects on the wing?

Both are promising for sure.

Can we not have some fun with it?

Okay, Joe.  I'll play since it seems that this is not meant to turn into some kind of heated debate.

I think Quinn will get a longer and more serious look first.  He will likely be a regular first, but not by much, maybe 1 season.

Quinn is very underrated around here because of Rossi. JJ P has certainly exceeded where he was drafted. I think JJ will be a good NHL player. Quinn, I think he has a skill level above JJ that he'll operate at.

Quinn is really a case study in "late bloomers" so we shall see.

Quinn cracks first, scores a lot.

Peterka comes in close behind and plays opposite wing of Quinn, mowing down d men in front of the opponents net so Quinn can score a lot, Mitts centering and they become a Sabres folklore line behind the French connection.

I'm hoping that the organization doesn't make the same mistake with Quinn it made by rushing Mitts. Getting a lot of playing time with more roles in the AHL will serve him and the franchise better. Allowing Arttu time in Rochester helped him be better prepared when he moved up to the NHL.

It would be good if they could start next year in Rochester with a veteren center between them.

Can’t let these kind of posts without commenting. While others disagree, I still feel playing in the AHL does nothing for development. Guys get to the level they are prepared to pay the price for. Casey needed years, not the AHL, to decide what he was willing to work for.

I think Peterka will surprise people. He will develop into the more complete player. I'm still not sold on Quinn. Have to wait and see if he develops any grit or becomes a floater.

You think Quinn floats?

Quinn works his ass off and is very diligent on D (and, apparently, off the ice too). "Floater" is among the last words that comes to mind when I watch him play.

Peterka also works hard, he appears faster and he uses his speed, but he does tend to cheat towards the offence.

I respectfully but strenuously disagree with your stance. There certainly are rare exceptions such as Dahlin or Jack who are better suited to start off in the NHL. However, the advantage for most prospects is to get more playing time and various roles in the lower league. The issue for most of these young players isn't so much as paying the price as it is the maturation and development process. There is a learning curve and mastering something usually takes time and patience. Trust the process!

Is Peterka capable of being a second-line player or is he more of a third-line player?

Questions without answers if you ask me.  Either could be top-6 wingers or 4th line JAGS.

Ruotalainen - Beniers - Quinn

Olofsson - Cozens - Peterka

Asplund - Mittelstadt - Thompson
