Begins at the four minute mark. Long story short he blames the Pegula's (particularly Kim), thinks Jack is out, and actually explains why the Pegula's are succeeding with the Bills while driving the Sabres into the ground.

The thing to keep in mind about Barnaby is that, even if he makes a good point here and there, he's still an absolute scumbag moron.

That might be an insult to “scumbag morons.” It’s no surprise he doesn’t like Kim, he only likes woman he can beat up.

I was stunned they even let him in the building for the skills challenge last January before the pandemic.

I can tell you why the Bills are successful. They are a professionally run organization where the Pegulas are informed of decisions and kept away from football operations.

I'm not so sure. Terry fancies himself a football guy and not a hockey guy (he's said this himself). He said he's scouted for high schools, and he was/is a prominent insider at PSU football. Maybe, just maybe, he knows the game.

Meanwhile, back at the waterfront...

Are you talking about the 2011 domestic violence charge? I can't find any news story that talks about battery or assault of a woman.

Pegula isn't making football decisions. There's a clear separation of church and state there.

I agree.

I get the impression that with the Bills, no big things happen unless they say so...but they are more hands off...simply because the game and player evaluation is so much more complicated, there are so many more positions to be an expert on...and there are many more layers of coaches/management.  With the Sabres, they THINK they understand the complexities of the game more than they do, and there isn't much (in terms of layers of people) between them and the product on the ice.

But you said they are "kept away from football operations." I don't think Terry is kept away in that way. Kept away from making decisions — hopefully.

That is actually a pretty good interview and I think his comments are spot on.

It especially made me think about Eichel watching Hall on the Bruins.  The Shawshank Redemption bit. That must actually be killing Jack to see Hall succeed there. He'd be wishing it was him and thinking why not me?  I want that too. I wouldn't be surprised if that led Jack to talking to his agent and saying "how can I orchestrate my way out of here without looking like the villain" and hence the disconnect presser.

As for Barnaby, he may be an idiot (lots of hockey players are idiots, and often worse, rich idiots) but I won't bad mouth him. He was a passionate Sabre who gave his all for the team and did what he could to stay in the league with limited talent. We could use a few Barnabys on this roster. A little heart and soul, not to mention entertainment.

Agree with all of this. Also I suspect it was a one-two combination of RK being fired and Hall going to Jack’s hometown Bruins that were the straw that broke his proverbial back.

The problems Matt Barnaby has had in his personal life do not negate his spot on analysis. He was a basher, sure but he was part of a special time for this franchise. The social experiment at Sabre headquarters is an abject failure. It’s time to let hockey people run the franchise and the ownership step back. Ten years? I’ll take a few “matt barnabys” over the fragile  powder puff girls we have seen in this stench.
