Nemec not in the Top 10 is certainly a take

Not a good take either. I think he is outpacing Dahlin for draft eligible point production in a euro men's league

One of the few that hasn't dropped Lambert much either.

If you move Nemec into the 9 slot, there wouldnt be one guy in there that I would be disappointed in the Sabres drafting.

Anyone of  Wright, Lambert, Kemell, Cooley, Slafkovsky, Savoie, Yurov, Jiricek and Nemec would look good in Royal Blue.

I'll be honest, I'd be shocked if Buffalo took Lambert

At this point I would agree with you but lets see how the rest of the season goes and how he does (IF) they finish up the World Juniors.

His talent is top 10 worthy, would you agree?

I think his talent is top 10 worthy. I think the personality is not a match for what Buffalo wants or is building.

He has made some strange decisions by jumping teams repeatedly.  It seems that his Dad is extremely involved.  Its a family dynamic thing that is difficult to judge from a distance.

For a team to take him in the top-10, I think they would need to do their due diligence and come out confident in Brad Lambert, the person, being able to make it as a high level NHL player.  He has the on ice skills to do it.  Questions about what he is like between the ears.

Also, this.  Buffalo looks to be keying in guys who are team 1st (team 2nd, and team 3rd).  Judging afar, I’m not confident that Lambert fits into that.

I do wonder how much Adams will allow his “dying to be a Sabre” mantra to work it’s way into the drafting process. I can’t see it factoring in as much as other forms of player acquisition - in that it’s one spot Buffalo doesn’t have to take an “image” hit like they may in FA or with no trade clauses.

Unless it’s a self-imposed handicap due to that mentioned Adams’ mantra.

I think drafting is more about hard work and self starters

I don’t know about “dying to be a Sabre” specifically.  Most draft eligibles are just “dying to be in the NHL” and I doubt many grew up as Sabres fans.

Probably it’s more about whether a prospect is going to be a mentally mature, hard working, team first guy.  I don’t think the organization is in a position where they can afford to take on guys who are “me first”, who need their ego coddled, or who don’t respond well to adversity.

Buffalo needs to bring through a group of top players who are not only talented, but also mentally capable of joining a struggling team and contributing towards raising it up.  Basically, guys with leadership skills in addition to talent.

Brad Lambert, unlocked for today only

Quite the read but very interesting. This scout has him as a 1B to Wright’s 1A despite Lambert’s struggles.

I have to hope that the Sabres scouts and the analytics staff have a solid opinion on him as he will be in the mix when they pick.

His small WJHC sample is mentioned and I was impressed with his play vs peers in that short viewing.
