Stoner Posted May 7, 2021 Report Posted May 7, 2021 Sorry for the clickbait. Ever since @Eleven brilliantly conceived it, I've been somewhat obsessed with the following song being played at some point, maybe at the first commercial break after 10:00 to go in the third. A real stress-buster, or opportunity to celebrate/salvage something out of the evening. I mean, come on, you can clap to it, you can sing it, it mentions the Erie Canal and it has BUFFALOOOOOO in it. This is a slam dunk no-brainer, Sabres! I am resigned to it never happening. But I can see the crowd and hear the joy. I thank my annoying little brother from Buffalo. 3 1 Quote
woods-racer Posted May 7, 2021 Report Posted May 7, 2021 Love that song! Taught it to my niece many years ago, still catch her singing it. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted May 7, 2021 Report Posted May 7, 2021 How come the boat does not get pulled to the side of the canal? How does it stay in the middle of canal? Will the rudder keep it from pulling to one side? Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted May 8, 2021 Report Posted May 8, 2021 It’s a great tune, but I have a hard time envisioning the crowd at a game getting into it. Quote

Stoner Posted May 8, 2021 Author Report Posted May 8, 2021 That's pretty amazing about the mule being to the side of the canal. Not sure how I thought it worked — did I think the mule was in the water pulling the barge like a horse pulls a wagon?! 1 Quote

ubkev Posted May 8, 2021 Report Posted May 8, 2021 I think we went to Erie Canal Village ever single year in elementary school. Learned how to make canal barges, sat in one room school houses, walked the original toepath and saw where the first shovel broke ground in 1817. And yes, they taught us the song. 1 Quote
