@Randall Flagg

Why have R2 on the bench.  He is a dynamic young player who drives offense?

For me, he would be likely exchanged with Asplund depending on the situation.

Both work well with Mitts but have differing strengths.

"Injuries will ensure that Ruotsalainen will play plenty of games"

And he's welcome to beat put any of the players above him. I just want to see more of him before I assume he could do that

Eichel for Zegras, Rakell, prospect, 2nd
Risto, Olofsson for Copp
Tage, player from defensive logjam for Miles Wood, 4th

Sign Blake Coleman
Sign McCabe
Sign Kevan Miller
Sign Ullmark, backup G (Mrazek?)

Coleman - Reinhart - Cozens
Asplund - Mittelstadt - Rakell
Skinner - Zegras - Copp
Wood - Girgensons - Bjork
Ruots, KO

Dahlin - Jokiharju
McCabe - Miller
Bryson/Samuelsson - Borgen/Laaksonen

Ullmark
Mrazek

Line 1: Mix of steadiness, jam, brains and hands.
Line 2: Giving Mitts and Asplund an upgrade at RW with a fresh-start skilled forward who finally has a center that can pass again.
Line 3: Easy minutes to break in the rookie passing wizard center, try to get Skinner to be useful again, and giving them Copp for help in the faceoff dot along with gritty play and recent breakout in offensive ability.
Line 4: All 3 can fly, and give a decent amount of offense for a 4th line.
Injuries will ensure that Ruotsalainen will play plenty of games, and so will KO.
6 guys who can play, or are prospects projected to play the center position. Mixing vets with kids.

Defense is a bit weak, but there isn't a lot available out there. Goalies and improved forward play will help with this, I maintain that our defense has not been a problem since ~16-17 anyway, it's been at least typical/average since then.

Does a bit for showing how much more palatable an Eichel return is if it includes a Zegras

I do wish Cozens managed to feature at centre in more of these mocks

If Jack and Reino are dealt, will we feel  the same way about this off-season as we did the day Drury and Briere left town?

Shouldn't. When they left, there was no return.

If Jack and Sam leave, there likely will be a very good return.

Also, Drury and Briere we captains of a team that went deep in the playoffs for a couple years.  Sam and Jack?  Not so much....

While of course getting an actual return is very important, your last paragraph is the main difference for me.

Drury and Briere leaving as free agents was the destruction of a very good team that feels like it was avoidable.

Eichel and Reinhart being traded is the destruction of a very bad team that feels like it was avoidable.

Not the same emotional attachment to the central figures involved.

Still, both feel like wasted potential.

Maybe he goes home to St. Louis then.

That is what people on other boards have been saying.

Not sure if RJ is going to retire, maybe he should, although he still has great moments. HOFer Pat Foley has just left the Blackhawks. I'd love a Pat Foley announcing for the Sabres, though he might not have the imagination to make this tire fire exciting like RJ has the last 10-15 years.

Curious what people would think of something like this for the Eichel/Reinhart trades.

Well.... we're waiting...

Drives me nuts that a guy like forslund can bounce around while we stick with dunleavy

The amazing thing is that Duff was far better than Dan ever was when he had to step in after RJ had to be rushed to the hospital (and imagine how difficult that situation was).

I wish they'd give Chuck Kaiton a call.

Its too bad Harrington had probably burned the bridge.  He was quite good at play by play.

Yeah, it wasn’t my ACGM, I just thought it was an interesting idea for how to trade Eichel/Reinhart. If KA wanted, he could also unload Fiala for more futures.

I wonder if GMKA would trade for Rossi.  I don’t think he sees upside in him.
