North Buffalo Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Rask probably unobtainable... Id grab Dubnyk or Smith Quote
Weave Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 How many expect to resign with their current team? Quote

pastajoe Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 If Ullmark resigns they’ll probably get a cheap backup and put UPL in Rochester for another year, unless he shines between now and opening day. Anyone else worth being a #1 would be too expensive. Better chance at trading for one. Quote
thewookie1 Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 I'd resign Ullmark and bring in either Mrazek, Reimer or Halak on a 1/2 year deal. Ullmark 3x4.85mil Mrazek 1/2x3.9mil Keeps UPL in Rochester at least one to two more years where he can garner experience as a starter 2 Quote
dudacek Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Over term, I'd rather have Ullmark than any goalie on that list. Grubauer and Rask are very good and would be fine, if expensive signings. Andersen and Raantta would be acceptable fallbacks. 3 minutes ago, thewookie1 said: I'd resign Ullmark and bring in either Mrazek, Reimer or Halak on a 1/2 year deal. If we can't re-sign Linus, I'm inclined to make a move for Merzlikins or Korpisalo. 3 Quote

My only caveat would be the price but if Ullmark says no, then we might be able to get Merzlikins/Korpisalo cheaply due to the expansion draft. Quote
Hoss Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Antti Raanta is my stopgap goalie of choice. Quote
msw2112 Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Agreed. We need 2 of these guys. I'd like one of them to be Linus, given that we drafted and developed him, he has flashed talent, and he seems like a genuinely good dude and a good teammate. I tip my hat to Tokarski - he's a gamer, but he's not a legitimate NHL goalie. He had a great week last week, but he's coming back to earth. UPL is not ready. His numbers in Rochester are not good, so I don't see how he'll do better in the NHL. He needs another couple of years to develop. (That said, I wish him well tonight in his debut and hope he has a great game!) 2 Quote
Derrico Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 I always thought Freddie Anderson would be decent for the right price. Although I'm sure Adams feels confident in his goaltending anyways. No sense in upgrading.... 2 Quote
LabattBlue Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Also, how much of the salary cap budget do they carve out for the top 2 goalies in 21-22? 8-10 mil? Quote
miles Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 dubnyk is barely an upgrade over hutton. Quote

My preference is to sign Ullmark for term (5 years?) and to grab one of the guys that are older though likely perceived to be better for 2 years if they can or 3 years if they have to. Rask would be top of that list. Raanta fits the bill as well. Not a fan of Andersson. He's good, but just doesn't come up big in big moments. Like that he's the Loafs goalie. If it's good that he plays for a despised team, don't want him. Quote

But living in leaf country I unfortunately watch more leaf games then I care to admit and I’ve seen many games where I think if only Buffalo could get that level of goaltending. He’s for sure no All star but not a stretch to suggest he’s better then what we have now, including Ullmark. 1 Quote
Carmel Corn Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 Not liking anything I see on the list other than Linus. GMKA is going to have to trade for at least one....hopefully Ulmark returns as well. Quote
Huckleberry Posted April 23, 2021 Report Posted April 23, 2021 If we loose Linus Raanta Grubauer Halak That would be my list. well doubt we got a shot at lundqvist or rask lol Quote

Anderson can be real good, Leafs typically kill him by trying to get him to play 90% of the season. He could be very good as a 1a of a tandem with Ullmark. Let him play 50-60%of the games with Ullmark handling the rest and it's a huge upgrade Quote

But there are other goalies as well that would have them in as good or better shape. Just something about Freddie's game that he seems to find a way to lose the big ones. Would rather have one of the other guys that are considered comparable to team w/ Ullmark. Quote
PerreaultForever Posted April 24, 2021 Report Posted April 24, 2021 Rask doesn't want the money so no chance. He will either sign with the Bruins or a top contender if the Bruins don't want to pay him or he will just retire. Grubauer or Mrazek are my choices if possible. Dubnyk and Ullmark as second choices. Ideally, we sign 2 goalies as UPL is not ready. So a starter to a 4-5 year deal and a back up to a 1-2 year deal. Maybe Bernier or Reimer for that if the money's right. Quote
Flashsabre Posted April 24, 2021 Report Posted April 24, 2021 You forgot Chris Dreidger from Florida on the list. Can you imagine an Ullmark-Raanta pairing? The third goalie would play 45 games next year😜 Quote
Thwomp! Posted April 24, 2021 Report Posted April 24, 2021 For anyone mentioning Halak, the last time we acquired him he refused to report and play for the Sabres. He dressed for one game and didn't play, and basically forced Murray to trade him to Washington for Neuvirth. I'm sure he's not coming here now either. 1 Quote
