Hank Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 This makes me happy. I may be the one guy who likes Sam more than LGR. 1 Quote
Thorner Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 Also, his value goes up as a C. I wonder what they do this summer with his deal. It’s LT deal or trade, right? I wonder if even a fraction of that quote is media asset management 3 Quote

In The Buff Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 almost spit out my drink reading this. Multiple coaches play Sam at wing. Us fans exhaust each other with the Center/Wing debate for years. Granato takes the reigns.... "yeah i like him at Center" And just like that Sabrespace lore is altered forever. What a day, 1st its 4/20, then dogecoin & now this? Wait, maybe that explains it, maybe Granato is celebrating too hard today? Sam a Center? You don't say 😛 1 hour ago, inkman said: 1 Quote
Dr. Who Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 Hey, I just lurk, but I enjoy this board. Optimism is probably an irrational indulgence, nonetheless, if Reinhart can maintain and build on what he is doing at center now and you have a healthy Eichel, Reinhart and Cozens as your eventual top 3, that is potentially a strong center spine. Tage and Casey starting to look like real NHL players. Solidify goal and this team could make a real leap next year. 5 Quote
erickompositör72 Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 Hey, we had our #2 center all along. Guess who always knew this? Among a few others here... 1 Quote

dudacek Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 Too many centres? Just for the record: Eichel Reinhart Cozens Mittelstadt Asplund R2 Eakin Sheahan Girgensons Fogarty That's 10 guys who are natural centres. And Bjork and Caggiula apparently can also play it. 1 Quote

Actually I'm starting to get the sense that either Reino or Eich is on the way out. The reason is: The young center spine is suddenly maturing very quickly and we could use the cap hit more effectively on other things. And until Granato was coaching these guys such a thought would drive me to panic. But now I feel Quote

If you don't have either of them next year, that sure is a good player no longer with you. But for this team to be competitive/good long term, it might not be a bad decision. So many moving parts though, it would be almost silly to just make a decision and stick by it until things develop a bit more through the rest of the season or offseason (Jack's health, Jack wanting to be here or not? Sam wanting to be here, Sam wanting how much money? Middlestat continuing to develop, who plays 3rd line center minutes.....possible return in trade for Eichel or Reinhart....) 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 I'd like to keep both, but I'm afraid doing so might be hard. I will say, I trust KA/Karmanos/Granato to form this team much more than I trusted any leadership group since DR/LRuff. Quote
#freejame Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 If I had to pick between having Reinhart+Eichel return and Eichel+Reinhart return I think I am picking the former. We can dramatically alter our roster with an Eichel trade. A Reinhart trade is almost certainly going to be closer to a hockey trade that we will not win. If anything I think this points to a deal with the Rangers getting closer since their pool is wing heavy. Still prefer the Kings and their centers. I feel like there is no chance both are here next season. Quote

steveoath Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 OK.... own up..... which one of you is Granato??? 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 This is what I've been saying. Reinhart has looked much better between Skinner and VO than he used to as a RW. I'm glad Granato recognizes this. Too many centers? Don't be silly. You can never have too many. Easy fix. One option, trade Eichel in the off season to stock the prospect/draft cupboard and don't disturb the current chemistry and get away from the is he a good captain thing. OR, Skinner-Reinhart-VO Asplund-Mitts-Thompson Ruotsaleinen-Eichel-Cozens Girgensens-Eakin/?-Bjork/Okposo/? Top 3 lines in no particular order. All 3 fast, all 3 have playmakers and scorers and guys to go to the net. All problems solved. 1 Quote

LGR4GM Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 Trading Eichel is still a bad idea. Just because we suddenly have decent centers does not mean Eichel is expendable when he is twice as good as the next center on the team. Sure Cozens and Mitts could get there, but we should stop this stupid tradition of starting to see young players succeed... and subtracting from the team. 1 1 Quote
