But, just can't see Francis not knowng his entire history and how it's been a long time since he had a sniff at the NHL. Particularly as the amount of rubber he faced as the taxi squad's GT likely is responsible for a reasonable chunk of how well he's played. He plays like he has the rest of the season, his is going to make a strong case for an NHL job next season. His career has been the 3rd or 4th guy most of the time. Only one season was he given a shot at the back up role and that was behind Carey Price at his peek. His stop in Ana was behind Gibson and Bernier. In Pitt, they had Murray, Jarry and DeSmith. In Carolina, they had Mrazek, McEilhenney and Nedeljkovic. In all these stops he has been solid to excellent, but with little real opportunity. He was just never in the right place at the right time. Maybe this is his reward for perseverance? 1 Quote

And him making a strong enough case to Francis that he deserves a shot at an NHL job would be a best case. in that case, the Sabres end up losing exactly what they expected to lose when Botterill began planning for Seattle's 2020 expansion. He still fights initial shots that are high more awkwardly than he should. He also seems to be getting all the important bounces breaking his way. But, like Glenn Hall famously said he'd rather be lucky than good any day. Not convinced he can sustain this for a full year, but 2 months could be very doable especially with his teammates seemingly believing in him. Interestingly, the way he's playing right now makes the decision to trade Johansson, who they wouldn't have retained the rights to and would have walked for nothing as soon as FA opens, seem reasonable even though Adams was still getting pillloried heading into last weekend by some. Really doubt Ronny takes him, but hoping he continues to play well enough to make it a consideration. Edited April 20, 2021 by Taro T Quote

Hutton has also had some nice small run of games over his time with the Sabres, and then fell apart. As of right now he is our #1 goalie next year 😛 Quote
Zamboni Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 (edited) Good for him. Enjoy the accolades. Because next game or two .... your carcass will be picked clean by the Sabre fans negative Nancy’s. 😂 Edited April 20, 2021 by Zamboni 2 1 Quote

bob_sauve28 Posted April 20, 2021 Report Posted April 20, 2021 So happy for him! That said, was he even the best Sabre over the last week? I'd say Dahlin was just so good I'd give him the teams first star for the week. 3 Quote
