I was watching Ron Jeremy when you were in diapers.

I’m just saying that dude looks like a teenager.  He may be.  Someone in his life needs to tell him the stash ain’t it.  I think the age requirement for going stash only is 50+.

I don't know who Ron Jeremy is. Was he a stud with staying power? What I like the most about porno flicks are the plot lines.

Oh, you are thinking of Ron Jeremy

He looks like a worn out hag that should be put out to pasture. In his case it is more likely a long term stay at a maximum prison.

Does this worry anyone else? "All" futures? It doesn't seem like KA much believes in the idea of surrounding your youth with capable veteran leadership. Never mind the idea of competing for the playoffs next season..

FTFY

Minus Jack and Risto, and assuming no major contracts returning, Adams would have nearly $50 million in cap space.

It will be very interesting to see how that is used.

I'd be shocked if he was able to sign quality free agents.

Devil’s advocate would say we’ve tried the “surround the youngsters with vets” approach and it didn’t work. Obviously, it depends on which vets and which youngsters. But, merely signing vets isn’t going to move the needle.

Also depends on the youngsters actually respecting the vets instead of blowing them off.

History would say we can. Cap space, only so many teams, would say we can. Boils down to the money and term. Would we be in running for all? No. Further fee agency, in my opinion, is more often bad investment.

One of Krueger's biggest failings is  bringing in lower line players that fulfilled the roles they were intended to play. They turned out to be wasted cap space. It's understandable why so much attention is payed to the expected high profile trades. But if Adams is able to bring in some of the right type of players to foster the style of play he wants that would be an important accomplishment in creating a team identity. Having pieces that fit is not something this organization has been good at.

Had a dream we traded Eichel for Ovechkin and 3 firsts, and 2 prospects I've never heard of.

You know, with a measure of focus before falling asleep, you can dream about whatever you want, right?

I don't know how many times I've shared a banana split with Bella Abzug, then whipped off her hat and made furious love to her on a beach.

I was so hoping that you would say Lugosi, but then again he was a Bela.

And I hear he is dead ...

Embarrassed I had to look that one up.  Yikes 😬.  If we were playing Match Game, and Gene Rayburn asks me “PA programs himself to dream, where he shares a banana split with and then makes love  on the beach to Blank”……my answer is Kim Pegula.  No match eh?

But as I said, probably not quality free agents. Ones that can't get a contract with a team that they want to go to. We'll have likely just traded our top 2 players, lost our only goalie to FA, all 2 years after trading ROR for nothing much. Buffalo is the Siberia of the hockey world right now.  If is looks like we got a weak return for Eichel, that will hurt even more.

Get two good goalies either through trade or signings and they will be in almost all games. I don’t know if they will be playoff caliber but an upward trajectory all season long is achievable.

The returns for our “core” should be young character guys that will blend in with the current youth and forge a team identity. There will be growing pains but if the goaltending keeps them in games the young guns may have some ‘cardiac kids’ moments to build on.

If the team is showing well and competing the league will take notice and people will be interested in joining the organization.

Depends on who you think is quality. Top free agent in or solid players for depth. I think as I've stated top free agents usually aren't a great deal. There are exceptions but that's what they are. Look at all the bad contracts that teams have made compared to the exceptions. Fans love to see them for splash but then it is over and you saddled with it. Fans wanted Skinner signed.......well.

I feel like "cap space offseason" has been a thing for years.

Anyways, that's nothing more than a frightening thought. We are cashing in our best traded pieces with these deals - if they return all futures, we aren't going to be swinging trades for quality now players - we won't have the roster ammunition. Something tells me KA isn't going to acquire the futures just to flip them. If that were the case, and the goal was now players as well, you wouldn't be bypassing the possibility of acquiring those players in the Eichel deal - would represent your best chance to get some.

It's a frightening thought because you don't/can't build through UFA - if Adams uses his cap space to load up on FA, we'd be doomed. Let's be honest here - if he's looking for all futures, it's because he's going with a youth movement. I'm honestly a bit surprised by the fact we seemingly haven't learned our lesson about surrounding the youth with capable vets. Adams talked endlessly of the "blinding light" of the youth to finish the year - I think he believes he can trot out Casey as the 1C next year, I really do.
