Not sure if Granger knows something, but there is a lot of smoke around Vegas

Theodore goes against everything we’ve been told about what the Sabres want.

As a LHD he’s also at our position of least need.

Of course there’s also that thing about him being far and away the best player we’ve heard associated with an Eichel deal since Matt Tkachuk kissed and made up with the Flames.

Theodore is listed as a RD/LD. He played on the right side in Anaheim.

Also a 26yo D man with four years remaining at 5.2 would give you a nice haul

He plays hard and smart, good passer, can play C or W and be used in all situations.

He not going to dangle or blow shots by people or blow people up.

He projects as just a good, useful Sam Reinhart-level player.

I find the idea they don't want to give him up for Eichel odd. I'd do that in a second if I was Vegas.

Krebs could go along with the "3 or 4 2Cs" thing

At this point, get any assets that can help.  Whether it be immediate help or long term.  Officially lose this dude

If i read the tweets correctly, it's hypothetically. LOL

Sounds like everything is hypothetical, not sure why I think that.

I'm sure this is how the standings will look in April.

I read it as him connecting the dots, more than having any inside knowledge

The dots do connect, but I would have thought Theodore too important to their team, and not really what Buffalo is looking for.

Vegas does seem up to something.

Maybe, I just can't take someone seriously that makes 4 or 5 statements and ends them all with 'hypothetically'.

You take the best player pick combination you can get back and if that means you make another trade then so be it. Johnson is still a long way from a Sabre uniform let alone a top 4 slot

ok?

wasn't suggesting not to

They just said during the Michigan game that Kevyn Adams is in the building.

I know he is looking at Power (who made a fantastic play on Johnson’s goal) and Portillo but I wonder if he is looking at Brisson who almost scored.

What could he fetch at the deadline?

Theodore wouldn’t make much sense but he’s certainly a top end player. Perhaps we’d be sending Johnson with Eichel for Theodore & Tuch +

Teddy would make sense as a player planned to be flipped for more assets.

Chess, not Checkers.

I've seen this "accumulate a bunch of defensemen and use them as trade assets" movie before.  The ending was lousy.

The best part of that series is supposed to be the sequel. The one with Shea Theodore in it. Ending apparently in mind blowing.

If this team keeps winning does the urgency and inclination to acquire "now" pieces become greater?

That is an interesting thought to ponder.  If, unfortunately, Eichel is still here after Christmas and the team is playing consistently well and entrenched in 3rd place or higher, maybe they take, say, a pricier RHD in a deal.  I personally would consider it -- it would tell the team that I believe in them.

Good thought. But this would be akin to GMTM’s speed up the rebuild by sacrificing some of the future. Let’s do this right and let this play out and get the most possible for him. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. We’re not built for a deep playoff run this year.
