Yup. We can keep acting like teams have control just because there's a contract but that hasn't been reality in a long long time. The contract certainly affords the team some leverage but the NMC holds a ton of weight and could screw us. There's no reason to test that theory.

Looks like all the juicy rumors have died down.... Sad because I was sure that they were going to make a blockbuster trade last week "sarcasm" 🙄

 

Some good drama to make the off season pass quicker though.🍿🍿🍿🎭🎭

My sense is that KA knows that he is not at this time going to get a maximum return on the injured Jack. That is not to say that he is willing to go below a reasonable range if dealt sooner rather than later.

It may have been a ship that existed only in our hearts and minds.  I have to think that if any put forth a “max value” offer in the past 5 months, Adams would have accepted.

Right. Why pay max value for an injured player?  Only TM did that (Kane, Bogo, Lehner for example).  We have to show he's healthy and I believe Jack, his agent and doctors believe that the only way that happens is with this surgery.  Jack's agent is trying to put pressure on KA to allow Jack to get the surgery asap so that Jack can prove he's healthy and get out of Buffalo.  KA should counter that if Jack has the surgery we need two things, an insurance policy on his contract and him to waive the NMC.

I am a CPA running my own small firm, so I am in the same situation as Dr. Cappuccino in that regard.  I have contracts for my larger clients and I (somewhat) take direction from the business managers.  Over the years as relationships build I am trusted to run the day to day financial operations, but I can't bind the clients to contracts.  They let me do what I see as best, but in strict compliance with company policy.

I don't really know why I just typed all that, but ... it's a lazy Sunday afternoon / evening in NS, of a long weekend to boot ... tomorrow is Natal Day.  Don't ask me what a 'Natal' is ... all I know it's a day of work with pay for many here.

According to the New York Post, if the Sabres retain $5 million of his salary, the Rangers would be so kind as to add Kakko to be the “centerpiece” of the deal.

I pretty much ignored this today.  Can anyone imagine paying half of Eichel's salary to play for the Rangers?

For what reasoning? Have continued talks with teams until you find the right deal. If Eichel plays it will drastically improve the offers imo. You absolutely can't say that we have this under control then trade him for peanuts, they've passed that stage again imo when GMKA stated that "They control this process", so it will either be Jack sits out and is put on LTIR or we trade him for 4 assets or he plays for us and we maximize his trade value. There is no other scenario that I can think of other than Jack retiring which I believe we'd get all the cap hit back and still his rights for 5 years I think?
