Norcal Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) Anderson Patrick Bjork is an American professional ice hockey left winger for the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League. Bjork was selected 146th overall by the Boston Bruins in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. Wikipedia Born: August 5, 1996 (age 24 years), Mequon, WI I hate that he's coming from the Bruins and I know people aren't happy with the trade but it's time to get to know the new guy. Does anyone know him as a player? Looks like he played in the USHL and then went to Notre Dame for two years. He's got 39 points in 138 games including 16 goals. Maybe this one will cash in. In the meantime as noted upthread he comes from a winning organization. Expand On 4/12/2021 at 5:37 AM, nfreeman said: A bit more on Bjork: he’s 6’0”, 198, he had 52 pts in 39 games as a junior at ND, then turned pro. It looks like he missed about half of each of his 1st 2 pro seasons with injuries — he played 39 total NHL/AHL games in his 1st year and 33 in his 2nd, before playing 65 last year. He’s played in 30 out of Boston’s 39 games this year. Expand Quote
dudacek Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 (edited) LOL. It's Evan Rodrigues all over again. I shoulda saw it coming. (To be clear, I have no more insight into Bjork than any other 4th liner I've read about occasionally) Edited April 12, 2021 by dudacek 1 Quote

nfreeman Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 He’s missed quite a bit of time with injuries but when healthy has pretty consistently played 12ish min per game for an upper echelon team. He has more upside than Lazar. 1 Quote
Doohicksie Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 Not the same player, but I just kind of get a Tage vibe.... the hated return on a trade but has potential upside. He's a lottery ticket, but one with a better chance of hitting than a 3rd rounder, and closer to hitting if it's going to happen. 2 Quote
Norcal Posted April 12, 2021 Author Report Posted April 12, 2021 Just for comparisons sake since most people including myself like Lazar and wish he wasn't traded. Bjork and Lazar are the same size. Bjork is 24, Lazar two years older at 26. 33 games 5g 4a 9pts for Lazar this year 317 games 25g 45a 70 pts career 30 games 2g 3a 5 pts for Bjork this year 138 games 16g 23a 39pts career Quote

PerreaultForever Posted April 12, 2021 Report Posted April 12, 2021 Bjork is fast and has some skill but maybe the E-Rod comparison isn't totally off. Bruins had him up and down the line up but he never really found a permanent spot anywhere. Can kill penalties fairly well but soft by Bruin standards. If our future style is going to be this offense first thing Granato is doing he will fit right in well with Mitts and Thompson, Asplund and the other skating forwards we have. I'd say he is an okay add as he's better than some of what we have now but I wouldn't expect too much. Quote
