Sabres are 6-3-3 in their last 12.  Mitts, Asplund and Thompson have 22 points including 15 goals plus TT’s game winning shoot-out goal. Of these 12 games they have only be held off the score sheet 1 game.  They have been together for 8 of those 12 games.  In those games they have 17 points including 12 goals.  We are 4-3-1 in those games including wins over Pitt, Wash, Phil and an SO loss to Boston.

Thank you. I’ve tried to tell posters that Olof wasn’t just a PP scorer when I watched him with the Amerks.

He has a 5v5 game as well. He just happened to score a ton of PP goals in his 1st season and got painted as only a specialist. There’s more there.

Since you seem to be knowledgeable about Rochester I would like your opinion on two or three players on their roster who you believe will be able to make the jump to the NHL in not too distant future.

R2, Asplund, Bryson, Borgen, Samuelsson, and Laaksonen appear to have NHL futures. I think Brett Murray could have a solid bottom line role too. Samuelsson and Laaksonen should keep getting more AHL time for now, but the others are ready for NHL roles now (obviously some are already up and proving their places).

Pekar, 6K, and Quinn all still need more time, but should project to be NHL players at some point.

Those last 3 are all interesting, because if they hit their ceilings they are bringing something the Sabres have a current need for & don't really project internal candidates to adequately fill the need.  (Possible exception should Cozens end up on wing, but by the time Quinn is ready, Dylan should be locked in as a C so that scoring RW is still a need.)

It helps that the Sabres are finally letting players cook in the minors again, like they used to. They spent too many years rushing along players, with largely unfavorable results. This gives me more hope for Pekar, Quinn, and Ukka than I would’ve had if this was between 3 and 9 years ago.
