steveoath Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Dunno who this guy is, but translation is that we've signed LW. Quote
Brawndo Posted April 6, 2021 Author Report Posted April 6, 2021 Hear that former Frölunda junior Linus Weissbach, soon to be 23, has signed with the Buffalo Sabers. Weissbach is in his fourth year as a student at the University of Wisconsin. Confirmation will surely come soon from the Sabres Quote
Thorner Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Pretty solid production in college this year, 41 points in 31 games. 12 goals, looks like a bit more of a playmaker Quote
dudacek Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 I don't have high hopes for him, but I see this as good news. Someone else new to look at down the stretch, with the slim chance he can be more VO and less CJ Smith Quote

Brawndo Posted April 6, 2021 Author Report Posted April 6, 2021 Don Granato probably got a detailed report on His Strengths and Weaknesses from the Wisconsin Head Coach 2 1 Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 (edited) We like VO and R2, why not Weissbach? 114 pts in college 127 games in 4 years. Pretty solid college career. It will be interesting to compare the undrafted Routsalainen vs 7th rd pick Weissbach. Both are playmakers, both are on the small side and about the same age. R2 has 40 pts in 32 AHL/Liiga games and Weissbach had 41 in 31 college games this season. Edited April 6, 2021 by GASabresIUFAN 2 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 I remember that his junior season was a bit disappointing and he failed to elevate the freshmen/carry the team. But this season, as Holloway and Caufield matured, Weissbach was able to rise to the occasion. Execute Order... 31. Quote
Flashsabre Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Adding talent to Rochester is always important. Even if he is never an NHL regular, better to let these guys compete in Rochester then let them walk for nothing. Quote

carpandean Posted April 6, 2021 Report Posted April 6, 2021 Trades! Trades! Trades! I think. Lots of signs pointing that way. (Not for Linus W., but as Ink said, he's the backfill.) 1 Quote

OhMyDahlin Posted April 7, 2021 Report Posted April 7, 2021 I'm shocked he signed without the promise of getting playing time. You're so close to free agency, after 4 years of waiting, why not go to free agency and try to find a better spot for yourself? Quote

Just as good a chance here as any, he's not cracking a playoff teams roster. Quote

For fringe prospects, opportunity at NHL playing time is more important than a winning organization. Quote

Yeah I’m not sure why an undersized, 7th round pick who benefitted supremely from his college linemates, would think there is a spot for him carved out in the NHL. This isn’t Cole Makar or Tory Krug.
