GASabresIUFAN Posted March 31, 2021 Report Posted March 31, 2021 Waivers and clearing waivers doesn't mean the player has no value. It really just means that no one wants to the player at his current contract level. The Ghost has significant value, just not 4.5 for two more years. 27 year old LHD who can skate like he does and put up 40 points have value. He just needs to go somewhere that can use him on the PP and that has defensive D to cover up his short comings. We aren't a fit right now because we have the same issue with Montour, Miller, Risto and Dahlin. Now that he has been waived, Philly has let the league know they want to move him. Now the only question is how much cap are they willing to retain and for how long. 1 Quote

Jerry Hughes was traded. Staal was traded. Ghost was waived. Ghost is likely not traded because there was no market for him. His salary must be a factor. It’s clear the Flyer’s have other people they prefer to play. This is not to say he won’t get picked up and play productively somewhere else. Again, we have Dahlin, Joker, Montour, and Bryson. If we add another let’s gets someone with more a physical presence. More like Risto and McCabe and Borgen. Especially with the later two out. Ghost was likely waived to make it easier to trade him because they recognized it was very unlikely someone was trading for that contract. Quote
