gonna be a 5th that's my call

He’s headed to Colorado along with Risto and a pick for Alex Newhook.

These kinda things happen to the Sabres all the time.

I don't think we'd get a 3rd, and they have no 4th. So it's a 5th or later likely

They don't have a 4th... this year.

Lol we get a 3rd I would die, it would be like Guastad for a 1st.

My preference is a player in his early 20s who is a spare part in Colorado but has some upside that we can give an opportunity down the stretch after cleaning out all our UFAs.

They drafted him 7 years ago and developed him slowly, working his way up the ranks, SHL, ECHL, AHL, AHL all-star, etc.. developing like a goalie prospect should.... and now he's gone, some other team gets to reap the rewards of all the resources BUF put into his development.   And we keep Carter Hutton.   SMH

I woulda put JJ back in Roch with UPL.   Tokarski backing up Hutton with Ullmark out, and Houser on taxi squad.

JJ is not an NHL goalie.  He also had no future here with UPL taking the starting role in Rochester for this season and next.

He's only 25 and was an AHL all-star.    Goalies can take a long time to develop, he was on a nice trajectory I would've kept him around.

This trade clearly is bigger than just Johansson. There must be additional pieces that haven't been agreed upon yet otherwise holding him out of practice seems strange considering NO ONE knows the details of what would be a simple trade.

Considering it's the Sabres my guess is their fax machine is probably down.

Maybe they're having a problem with the player coming back in return. Like Colorado said Buffalo to their guy and he immediately chained himself to a steel beam and said "Hell No".....
