Sad sad story out of Russia.

19 year old player dies after being hit by puck. Apparently it severed an artery in his head. There's video, but I didn't want to post it.

The weird thing is the shot was just sort of a wrist shot dump in attempt, and didn't look all that bad.

Shot around the red line and hit the player near the blue line. 

I guess he died in intensive care at the hospital.

A real tragedy.

Yeah, didn't look like a hard shot. Just caught him in the right spot. You could tell from his reaction it wasn't good. Poor kid.

So damn scary. A routine play that seems like it could happen to me/anyone out there playing rec league. 

Just sad for him and his family.

My son was telling me about this.  It's awful. 

It brought back memories of watching Chris Pronger take a slapshot in the chest, taking one step and collapsing on the ice.  Between that and the Malarchuk incident... man.. bad memories.

Yea, that happened like 4 - 5 days ago I think.  Sad stuff as always.

Damn...that is crazy! So many games are played without any issue and then something like this happens out of nowhere...

I also feel bad for the kid who shot the puck.  Total accident, but he's going to carry that burden for the rest of his life.
