Andrew Amerk Posted March 16, 2021 Report Posted March 16, 2021 Sabres and Devils skate to a 0-0 thriller after the first. Following some adjustments by one of the coaching staffs at intermission, Devils grab a goal in the first 5 minutes of the 2nd, then they pot another goal a few minutes later. In the 3rd, Olof picks up a PP goal to make it 2-1, but the Sabres fail to generate many 5v5 shots for the remainder of the game, and lose. Quote

They've used up most of the considerable good will capital this franchise accumulated over its first 40 years. I don't think it is an exaggeration to say the future of the business is at risk. 2 hours ago, LTS said: Buffalo is an established market that craves hockey. Everyone recognizes that. This ownership team has pretty much used up its capital, but the franchise and the city continue to be held in high regard by many. This ownership group may be on its last legs barring some miraculous turnaround, but I think everyone comes running back if the Sabres return to even a moderate level of respectability. I don't think it's a question of what this means as far as the fans coming back. The fans will come back. But if the team itself doesn't start taking things more seriously there's no way they'll ever get players that want to be here, they'll get players other teams were willing to let go. They'll be stuck over paying for bad players forever. The team will go on and on being a black hole of sadness. The fans will come back. But only if the team, from top to bottom, figures out what it stands for and starts acting accordingly. Until then, it will just be hockey purgatory, where careers go to die. 1 Quote

The Thrashers lasted 5 years and had a better record in that period than any Sabres 5 year window since Pegula took over. Look up the California Golden Seals and you will see were are now passing them for the worst 10 years in NHL history. 1 Quote
