It was suggested Ellis is a guy who is in the organization and who is capable of running the Sabres bench on an interim basis if/when Krueger is fired. Mike Weber's name also came up, who is an assistant coach in Rochester. Quote

They went with an older guy in Krueger, an older former player (with asst experience) in Housley, a somewhat younger cup winner in Bylsma.....none of them really worked with this roster/core.
