Well good on Florida, no wonder they're improving fast. Hired an experienced coach and a senior advisor as we should have.

If the Sabres added 2 guys like Dudley and Quennville I would be ecstatic.

Lol people want MORE layers of management

No.  They want experience, leadership and sound decision making, with a realistic plan in place.

I don't want the Pegulas to sell the team.  They are great owners because they 1) have deep pockets; 2) badly want the team to be successful; and 3) are committed to Buffalo.  I DO want the Pegulas to put quality management in place, then get out of the way and let those folks do their jobs.  Adams has seemingly done a decent job in adding some talent to the roster (Hall, Staal) without giving up much, got guys like Reinhart re-signed to team-friendly deals, etc.  He didn't handle the goaltending situation very well and the roster seems to lack grit/glue guys.

Until recently, I was wiling to let things play out with Kreuger, but I just can't take it anymore.  Whatever he is doing is not working and the team is on a downward spiral, circling the drain.  At this point, this season is over, but perhaps they can get things moving in the right direction and create some momentum going into next year.  I just don't see how the current coaching staff can generate anything to build on and if we keep them on, next season will be more of the same.

I also thought certain guys were untradeable, but at this point, I just don't care if they blow it up and start over.  Keep Couzens and a couple of the young defensemen (Bryson, Borgen).  The rest can go.  The current core has been through several coaches - Bylsma, Housley, Kreuger - and nothing gets better.  They just keep spinning their wheels.  Is there a coach out there that can get this group to play to their potential?  Is it the players or the coach?

I am going to go bang my head against the wall....

Calling all Nurses and Doctors to Trauma bay Sabresland... code 99, code 99... Bring crash cart.  Also security code Blue... we need a certain coach escorted out of the building.  We need xray on standbye...  for Sabrespacers we need oxygen... so send respiratory.

4 Stages of Readiness For Change

1. Compelled by authority to change (league steps in to aid with previous GM hiring process?)

2. Comply to escape criticism (Botterill hired?)

3. Intellectually aware of need for change (Bloodletting this past offseason?)

4. Mentally and emotionally self motivated by change (This? Finally embarrassed into admitting they need experienced help?)

This does not make them great owners. A lot of franchise owners have "deep pockets" and I think all of them want to be successful.

I have been a life long audio, video and in person scout of the Sabres, when combined with my 15 years honing my GM Skills, trained exclusively by Microsoft and Sony's top notch NHL GM Simulator, I anxiously await the call from the Pegula's. 😄

We had the chance. I mean maybe they were asked and weren't interested (but I doubt it) but the timing was right for both of them.

But why hire a multiple-cup-winning coach who can scare the crap out of a dead man when you can hire a guy who had an unsuccessful cup of coffee as an NHL coach and then left the league, the sport and the continent for 6 years?

Dudley wants some control.  He is not going to be a figurehead.

Hopefully, TP has realized that he needs much more than a figurehead.

He hasn't even been GM for a year, they're not moving him anywhere.

It really hope this means they're looking to fill a POHO/Czar type position.

If so, this could be a candidate list:

Rutherford
Lombardi
Babcock
Julien
Boudreau
Milbury
Lafontaine
Hitchcock
Larry Robinson
Keenan
Chiarelli
Mike Gillis
Dale Tallon
Weekes

Pretty sure we can scratch LaFontaine off the list 😂😂

I haven't posted in a couple of years.

I haven't watched a full Sabres game in a couple of years, hell, I can't even find highlights that are worth watching.

I WAS WRONG !

The tank was a bad idea.  I thought it was a great idea at the time.  I was pissed when the Bills fought to make playoffs in McDermott's first year.  I thought he should have tanked that year for higher draft picks.  Again, I WAS WRONG!

The Bills built a winning culture by constantly trying to win.  That's where the Sabres went wrong.

They learned how to lose, and don't give me that nonsense that no one is left from those teams, the infection is in the franchise and remains to this day.

The tank was a great idea. Executed poorly. There is a distinct and clear difference between the tank being good/bad to do. And the execution of the tank being good/bad. Some fans can’t seem to quite grasp and separate the two main stages of tanking.

I cannot love this post anymore than I currently do.  You want culture, McDermott, for all of our mocking and taunting, did it the right way.  The Sabres have still not yet recovered from instilling a culture that said it was OK to lose, and tearing down the team to the point that there was noone left that cared and was able to pass on the culture.

If you narrowly define execution as choosing to completely tear out everything of value that could have led the next generation I might agree.

This is such a load of crap. And the funny thing is, is sounds like an even bigger load of crap when someone other than LGR says it.

Oh well... it’s what I think. Too bad. I won’t convince you otherwise and visa versa. All good....
