The folks over on the Sabres' Reddit page had a nice idea to donate to the Buffalo SPCA in his memory.  Linus had a "Ullmark's Barks" fundraiser with them last year.  I figured I would relay that message over here if anyone were interested.  Their donation page is linked below:

Great idea.  Anyone know his first name?

My condolences to him and his family.  As someone who lost his parents recently it’s a hard road ahead.

Play or not play should be completely up to him and his family. Go to Sweden Linus if you want to and be with your family.

Very saddened at the passing of his father.  As 11 stated, 63 is far too early.

Hoping this doesn't come across wrong, but am tremendously relieved that the relative that was sick wasn't his child.

Prayers go out to Linus, his mother, the rest of his family & to his father.  May his father rest in peace & watch him from above.

Condolences but it is nice he got to say goodbye. He will value that years from now. When my dad died unexpectedly in a hospital I didn't get that. We had a really dumb conversation the night before and it haunted me for a long time (maybe even now) how we didn't get a proper goodbye. It's important and I'm glad for him that he at least got that.

I hope he take his time with this. Were all different, hopefully the team make it comfortable and family like so he decides to stay with his friends.

The feeling that ur dad could never watch you play live must hurt deeply, eventhough he saw him play in SHL obviously Linus dream was NHL.

Sad story, a story we all eventually will end up with if we have not already. I lost both my parents, 67 and 70.

Told Linus there is a saying that always will follow me

"Time solves everything one way or another, its just a matter of time"

I can't imagine how that would feel to be on another continent and not with his father (and his mother and family). He's a young man and those emotions are difficult for anybody let alone being so far away. Condolences to Linus and family. FOR SURE, If we had a normal season with our great fans in the stands at the Arena, Linus would know how much Sabres fans care the first time he stepped on the ice. SPCA donation is great idea.....done!

Very sad.  I went through a similar experience, losing a parent as a young man and being very far away.  It will take time and that last conversation will help a lot.   😪
