This is a weak argument.  Could say this about any player.  Jack, Sam, ROR, Risto....the fact that the team has been bad, does not mean he is not a useful player.

But you are probably right though if you phrase it like this.  I also doubt that the Sabres miss him badly.  They are likely to miss him a little bit though.  It weakens a bottom 6 which is already not that strong.
