1 minute clip of Jack Quinn post game interview. Not much meat, but you get a glimpse of our newest prospect.

Speaking of Quinn, if you wanna know why I hold out hope he could become better than Rossi in the end...

Just coming to post the above article.

The gist is that he’s an overlooked guy who just keeps quietly working and actively seeking ways to be better, and has consistently proved the doubters wrong.

Really reminded me of the story of a certain Buffalo football player who wears #17.

Really hoping the kid pans out.  He seems to have the character that would fit in with the current Bills and is the sort they're trying to get on the hockey team, too.

The nice thing for him is the team finally has enough talent to not be rushing him up and when he's ready & shown he's earned the chance he'll get it.  So much easier to develop a guy when you can work him in rather than throw him to the wolves & hope.

I swear I didn’t read this before posting something similar in Quinn thread hahahahaha.

Peterka is playing with a lot of confidence. He is fun to watch.

Stuetzle is better but I don’t find the gap to be very wide.

They’ve moved into a tie with Cozens for 2nd place in tourney scoring with nine.

Cant remember the last time a Sabres 2nd rounder impressed this much in his D+1 year. Nightengale’s staff looking real good for identifying his talent and Adams for moving up to get him.

Peterka completes the hat trick.

To become the leading scorer in the tourney?

I would have been content if he scored four or five points the entire tourney, although I knew he would be in prime role and had the potential for more.

10 points in four games is ridiculous.

Russia Sweden 2-2 in the 3rd.  Are we rooting for Sweden?

Now 3-2 Russians with 5 minutes left.  If Russia wins in regulation they secure the 1 seed in group B.  We, USA, need Sweden to tie it up and get the game to OT.

3-3 with a minute left.

OT.  Now a USA victory in regulation over the Swedes secures the top seed.

Watching the games confirms that number is earned. Perfetti has one more point, and has wonderful vision and hands, but he’s been a PP specialist.

You can’t overrate the WJC (especially given Rossi’s team), but it is gratifying to see how our picks are performing versus the guys rated around them.

Lundell looks excellent.

I've been reasonably impressed with Quinn, though. I'm not gonna torch that decision unless Cozens ends up at W. Or Quinn falls way way short of Lundell, etc.

Cozens is definitely on another level to Quinn, though, whoever was arguing otherwise.

For those who have been watching, has Cozens been Canada's best forward (player?)?

Depends on the game but I'd say overall probably. Definitely consistent and he's also a team leader. There's a LOT of talent on that roster though so on any given shift all kinds of players shine. Goalie looks real good too.

Maybe even like a Stamkos, when healthy. Wing ,Centre and providing leadership.

Hopefully less injury prone.

The nhl functions in reverse of the nfl draft. In the nfl it can be very smart to move down and stockpile picks in rounds 3-5. In the nhl, it's smarter to trade those picks at move up.

Id want as many 1st 2nd and maybe 3rd round picks as I can get.

Answering my own question about Sabres 2nd rounders, Lukkonen and Luke Adam had excellent world juniors, but it was in their D2 years.

Only guy who compares to Peterka is Tyler Ennis, who was our 2nd pick, but was actually a late first. He scored 7 points in six games in his D1 year.

Derek Roy had fewer WJC points in his D+2 year than Peterka had in his D-1.

JJP currently outscoring Lundell is something I find interesting.

That said, the WJC is a short tourney and some guys get hot and go off for it. That only means so much.

Lundell has improved statistically each game; 1, then 2, then 3 points. He’s been getting to the net.

Four-point night is going to be tough with Cozens keeping him pinned in his own zone all night. 😜

Yes, an excellent WJC is always nice to see, especially if the guy is good against the top teams as well as the also rans. However, it’s no reason to drastically change the evaluation of a player.  JJP is not suddenly a top prospect.  I mean he might be, maybe, but it takes more than this to prove it.

I takes five or six years.

It’s a mistake to say this means JJP is going to be a top 6 player, but there is nothing wrong with being happy that the immediate returns are more promising than Rasmus Asplund, or Eric Cornel.
