Flashsabre Posted April 16, 2021 Report Posted April 16, 2021 “Pietrangelo higher hockey IQ than Hughes at that age IMO. Othman vs Raty was as easy as it gets for us. Raty is not even on several NHL scouts lists anymore. It starts with his skating and goes on from there. He has not progressed as a player and we (and it seems many NHL team scouts) are done ranking him based on what we/they saw 3 years ago. “ Quote from Mark Edwards, head of hockeyprospect.com. He also said a lot of scouts think this is one of the worst draft in years. No studs at the top and everyone after the 10th pick is a question mark. Quote
bob_sauve28 Posted April 16, 2021 Report Posted April 16, 2021 Trade down a few spots, pick up additional picks and draft a goalie? https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/394724/jesper-wallstedt Just throwing this out there for fun, but we do need a goalie....or two Quote

Worst draft yet eklund is out Performing raymond, holtz at a younger age . Just Laughable It's a draft where you get core players like a vanek or Larkin not elite but very good Worst draft "yet" teams didn't play this year Apparently he thinks there all busts just nonsense Quote

That doesn’t mean there are no good players, means no superstars at the top and the depth of players isn’t very good. You are right though, some kids are being undervalued because they didn’t play and have the chance to have a “breakout season”. Edited April 18, 2021 by Flashsabre Quote

I'm not trying to be rude or disrespectful but these "Scouts" are looking like idiots Lately you can't call a draft "weak" when league's aren't playing hell I think there's currently over 200 players in nhl from the OHL. There's always that one player that comes out of nowhere and moves up. Quote

Quinn didn’t have great pre draft year but in his draft year exploded for over 50 goals. There will be players like that this year for sure. Quote

That's my point there calling this a weak draft When leagues arent playing Makes zero sense. Only thing good about our very late round picks we might be able to get 1st to 2nd round talent at 3rd -4th Edited April 18, 2021 by Buffalonill Quote

It’s a fair comparison so long as it comes with this qualifier from another NHL scout: “He does look and play like Hedman but if you were comparing [Power] to Hedman at the same age in his draft year, Hedman would be better [than Power] in pretty much every facet of the game.” Beniers or Guenther please Quote
Buffalonill Posted April 19, 2021 Report Posted April 19, 2021 Guenther getting the love he deserves he will be number 1 Quote
LGR4GM Posted April 19, 2021 Report Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) Owen Power, exactly like Hedman if you ignore skills and focus on size and position. Quote He is incredibly mobile and agile for such a big man. While he’s not considered an elite point-producing offensive talent nor is he regarded as a physically-punishing defensive or shutdown defenceman, he’s viewed as well above average in all the fundamental areas — skating, skill, hockey sense and competitiveness, as well as the ability to move the puck, get shots on goal and defend in his own zone. And did we mention he’s 6-foot-5 1/2 and 213 pounds? If you didn't know, Owen Power is tall. Tall = good in a lot of scouts eyes. Edited April 19, 2021 by LGR4GM Quote
