jsb Posted December 13, 2020 Report Posted December 13, 2020 Well it could all mean that maybe that isn't another train at the other end of the tunnel and maybe just maybe this long drawn out wait to see this team good again is just waiting on these prospects to finally mature. I think if we had a bit more confidence in our goaltender situation this would a good year to kick start our optimism. Quote

Probably, but if it happens and you add Hall as well, then the new guy looks like a genius but just got lucky with good timing. Now if the new slim analytical scouting staff doesn't do well.............. But let's hope that doesn't happen.  Quote

But for simply making the team, if it comes down to him & another player for a short tournament? The coach takes his guy 99 times out of 100. The most obvious rationale is the coach has had the player for two years and over that time the player has earned his trust. Edited December 13, 2020 by dudacek Quote

LGR4GM Posted December 13, 2020 Report Posted December 13, 2020 Quinn is a good pk guy and his 200ft game is solid. Coach trusts those things and like the Sabres thinks he'll develop and be a good contributor. Time will tell. Being good on this wjc team would go a long way towards seeing where he stacks up against his age group. Quote

He shone at last year's World juniors as a 17-year-old (6 points in 7 games). He's among the highest-drafted German prospects of all time and has been ripping it up in the Austrian men's league so far this year. He should be be on their first line with Stutzle again, and a key player for them. 3 Quote

Stuetzle, Riechel, and Peterka played pro so it makes a lot of sense for Germany to put him on the national team. Also he's been really good to start the year in Austria. 35 minutes ago, dudacek said: Shouldn't be at all. He shone at last year's World juniors as a 17-year-old (6 points in 7 games). We will see. I was just interested in  your opinion. Quote
Brawndo Posted December 14, 2020 Author Report Posted December 14, 2020 Team Canada has Cozens listed at 198, 18 pounds heavier than when He was drafted per John Vogl. 3 Quote

There is a small but vocal and smart group of scouts/hockey people that think JJ can or will be better than Quinn. Not saying that will be the case but JJ has a ton of talent. Quote
dudacek Posted December 15, 2020 Report Posted December 15, 2020 I know it’s because of games played calibre of competition and roles, but this still seems weird to compare the goals scored by the 3, 4, and 5th forwards picked in the draft with the next three: 3 Stutzle       7 4 Raymond     4 7 Holtz.        9 8 Quinn        52 9 Rossi        39 10 Perfetti.     37 Quote
Ducky Posted December 17, 2020 Report Posted December 17, 2020 WJC goalie was asked which player was the hardest to face in a shootout situation. He answered Quinn and Perfetti. The other two goalies wouldn't name anyone. Pussies... Quote
French Collection Posted December 18, 2020 Report Posted December 18, 2020 TSN is lacking content but they are putting out some World Juniors stuff. They had a word association game with D-man Thomas Harley. Cozens was speed while Quinn was sneaky. Quote

dudacek Posted December 18, 2020 Report Posted December 18, 2020 Eight Germans tested positive inside the bubble, as well as two Swedish officials. All the Germans players will remain in quarantine for another seven days and will be released in time to play their first scheduled game, but not their exhibition games, at least those players who test as fit to play. I-90 W Posted December 18, 2020 Report Posted December 18, 2020 I’ve never been as excited for the World Juniors as I m this year. So starved for hockey. Will be watching Canada’s top line very closely. Ryan Johnson as well with Team USA 🇺🇸   1 Quote

Well...clearly the German bubble has some leaks.  If any Germans test positive tomorrow or the next few days, the whole team should be sent home. Quote

No practices or exhibition games for them. 1 hour ago, LabattBlue said: Well...clearly the German bubble has some leaks.  If any Germans test positive tomorrow or the next few days, the whole team should be sent home. Had some leaks for sure, but they likely happened prior to arriving in Edmonton. They've been quarantined since they got there five days ago, so they should not have been able to expose anyone else in the bubble. Apparently, all 8 are symptom-free and theoretically could be available to play, depending on how things progress in a week. The protocols apparently worked the way they were supposed to work. Quote
