spndnchz Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 Xmas gift. need to get an air hockey table for my nephew. Any suggestions? Quote
SDS Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 Yes! Sort of. So, depending on how fussy you are about quality play, you have to make sure the blower is strong enough or the puck doesn’t move well. It may even stop. We had one, exchanged it and got a different one because of this. I always wished we spent more for better play. If you don’t spend above a certain amount for quality parts, then it is hard to enjoy. a friend had one by Atomic that I wish I had just bought and saved myself the hassle. Quote
SDS Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 I know it is a present and this is a pain in the ass, but people buy these and sell them all the time. You could get a good one for 50% of the cost if you have a way to move it. Plus, you can try before you buy. Quote
#freejame Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 Pretty much agree with SDS. I would strongly recommend giving it a go before trying out. A bad table won’t get any use, but a properly manufactured table will. Quote
SDS Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 I’m going to peg $1500 as a reasonable quality price point. Lower than that and you will need good references. Quote
spndnchz Posted December 4, 2020 Author Report Posted December 4, 2020 Hmm. An awesome bubble hockey brand new is 1800 I’m looking 200 ish. Should I even bother at that price? Air, not bubble Quote
spndnchz Posted December 4, 2020 Author Report Posted December 4, 2020 Is there a psi or something I should look for? Quote

Air, not bubble This is going to depend on how old your nephew is, actually. If he's 6, he'll have plenty of fun with even the lower-end tables. If he's 15, not so much. Quote

Air, not bubble If you are talking about a full sized 7-9 ft air hockey table - I don’t think you could find a good used one for that. We paid $850 for an underpowered one and replaced it with one that was ok for $1200. Neither compared to the atomic for fun game play. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NCJGFDY/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_.8BYFb357CKA3 Is this for a small child? Quote
North Buffalo Posted December 4, 2020 Report Posted December 4, 2020 cnet doesn't have any great reviews Quote

If it was going to be used for a couple years that means they’re going to be 15 or 16 and they’re going to have big adultish bodies. is there something specific that you were looking at? A link somewhere? Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted December 6, 2020 Report Posted December 6, 2020 There is an RJ bubble hockey table out there somewhere. https://www.arcadetrends.com/product-page/super-chexx-dome-hockey Quote
BuffalOhio Posted December 7, 2020 Report Posted December 7, 2020 There's only one, and it's made in Buffalo ... https://www.icegame.com/bubblehockey I delivered coffee supplies there when they were first starting out in Tonawanda in 82-83. Quote
