It will snuff out the last tiny spark of faith in this organization. It would be colossally dumb - even worse, in some ways, than sitting on his rights and getting nothing for him. The Pegulas would have to be incredibly stupid and stubborn to allow Eichel to end up in New York (or Boston). Expand I really don't get these takes. NY isn't a division mate of ours. They aren't a rival of ours. They really are no different than Carolina or Columbus. Is it because of WNY's inferiority complex and political divide over NYC? 4

Weave Posted August 15, 2021 Report Posted August 15, 2021 My much less flippant response, look at the county by county voting results for NY and you'll see the divide clearly. Erie, Monroe, Albany, and the counties that make up NYC all go blue and the rest of the state goes red. Add in some good old fashioned western NY inferiority complex and the divide between upstate and NYC is quite clear. 2

But my point was that WNY is blue just like NYC is -- Erie County voted blue in the last election by 57% to 42%, which is a pretty wide margin. I'd be curious to know when the last time Erie County didn't vote blue. Also, FWIW, plenty of those bumper stickers and flags exist in NYC too. I guess I have generally thought of WNY as being primarily Erie County, since it's a pretty large county that is only about 25% located in the city of Buffalo. You're certainly right that the rural counties west of Syracuse (if that's how you think of WNY) are much redder than Erie County.
