I-90 W Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 (edited) Do you think this will still happen on New Year’s Day as the season opener? Would they do it still without fans? Scheduled 1/1/21 in Minneapolis, Blues vs Wild. The Winter Classic has become quite the tradition at our house and really hope it’s still happening. It’s pretty much the Super Bowl for us. Taro T Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Guessing it will happen but with few/no fans in attendance. Quote
Cal Naughton Jr Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Need it to come back to Buffalo. With fans. I still kick myself in the ass for not going to the first one Quote

Then we are sitting at home New Year’s Day watching it and she says, you know, we should have gone. I divorced her. 3 1 Quote

Would be a shame if they passed that up. The more I think about it, they would be crazy not to do it. Brings even more pressure to make sure that 1/1 start date happens. Man I miss the NHL. 1 Quote
dudacek Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 I heard talk of opening the season with an outdoor game without fans in the Rockies on the frozen waters of Lake Louise. That could be absolutely amazing. Quote

It would be a brilliant location. Quote

LabattBlue Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 I don’t think there is any way a New Years Day winter classic is being held this year with fans...and is it even worth holding if there are no fans? 1 Quote

I definitely agree that the uniqueness of these games wore out years ago. I’d still like to go to one at whatever the stadium will be called in the future in orchard park Quote
Marvin Posted October 22, 2020 Report Posted October 22, 2020 Until COVID-19 is under control, IMHO, the NHL should try to get 1/3 capacity with social distancing and masks with all the games outdoors if they play a season. Quote
