is it someone we take for Grant-ed?

Not really.   That’s to Fuhrry, but a good nomination.

I’d advise people to go to the movies

Pretty sure he's referencing a '70's Gene Hackman movie.

PS - did not see the post directly above when posted.

We aren’t at the P’s yet.

Dude, slow down. We have time. They're not playing hockey for another two months,… if we're lucky

And you call yourself a Sabres fan. 😀

How great was it to be a Buffalo sports fan back then? We might have had the three most electrifying players in football, hockey and basketball at the same time.

Getting back on track,

I will go with G for Gare with Buffalo although I admit Jocelyn Guevermont(sic?) was my first thought and obviously #99 for the NHL.

Gretzky works for both technically.

This has turned very punny.

Ernie D was awesome.

I think D & F are settled, but what about the other letters?  Is everyone happy with Al Arbour as the hockey "A"?  What about the B's?  Sabres - Beer Garden, Biron, Bodger, Bowman, Briere? Hockey - Bowman, The B's, Broad Street Bullies,  Bobby (Orr and Hull)?

Ernie D was for a couple of years and his injury may have played a big part in the Brave’s demise, but to be clear, I was referring to McAdoo. Think about 1973, OJ gets 2003, the Sabre’s are serenaded with “Thank you Sabre’s “ and Bob McAdoo is NBA rookie of the year.

Truth be told, the Braves were treated as a 3rd class citizen behind the Sabres and Canisus basketball back then.  However, they has a chance to be great.  They had Randy Smith, McAdoo, Kaufmann and then drafted Adrian Dantley and had Moses Malone (for 2 games until they traded him).  Can you imagine a starting 5 of Dantley, McAdoo, Malone, Kaufmann and Randy Smith.  Wow!  Thanks Snyder and John W Brown.  I've hated the NBA ever since.

I’m pretty sure Kaufman was gone by then due to injury but they did have Gar Heard who was traded for John Shumate the season they also acquired Malone. Either way, some front court and what a match up nightmare. Malone and Dantley together might have set a record for offensive rebounds.
