Thorner Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 There always seems to be one spaced way out from the others haha Quote
Taro T Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 Remember that they changed the procedure slightly this year in that once a hearing starts the teams & players can't reach a deal on their own. They have to wait for the decision to be handed down. Quote
LabattBlue Posted October 13, 2020 Report Posted October 13, 2020 I can’t remember. Can they rule for either for 1 year or 2 year award, or is just 1 year? Quote

The party that didn't file for arbitration (the Sabres) chooses the term when it could be for up to 2 years. Have to believe the Sabres will choose 1 year for all 3. 1 Quote

OhMyDahlin Posted October 16, 2020 Report Posted October 16, 2020 (edited) I didn't know where to ask this, so I figured I would do it here... Does anyone remember an article from The Athletic last year about how most players that go to salary arbitration end up getting traded? It was a great article, but I've been thinking about it lately and how it worries me about them trading Reinhart and/or Olofsson to save money. I've looked everywhere for it and cannot find the article. (It did end up happening with Rodrigues.) EDIT: I found it! Lol.https://theathletic.com/1085655/2019/07/19/if-a-player-makes-it-to-an-arbitration-hearing-history-suggests-hes-likely-a-goner/ Edited October 16, 2020 by OhMyDahlin Quote

I think this is because if a player and team are unable to come to terms and are forced to go to an arbitration hearing it indicates that the two parties have a fundamental disagreement about the value of the player. That’s not likely to resolve itself at the end of the 1-2 year arbitration awarded contract, so it’s best to move on before it’s time to negotiate another contract. 2 Quote

I really hope you're right...losing one of those kids would create a massive hole in the top-6. Just wanted to gauge what others thought of the possibility of them being signed before it gets to this point. Quote
