Exactly. It's like digging into a big gambling hole, and we've won enough (seemingly) in a row this offseason (finally) where we are "back" to goalie being the big thing.

The bold - I'm trying to think now if we've had ELITE goaltending for more or less than half of my tenure as a fan. Has to be way less than half, now.

I don't know how old you are, but in general, I feel that people who looked at Miller as less than elite grew up on Hasek or otherwise were spoiled by watching him.  Miller wasn't Hasek, of course; he wasn't the greatest goalie in NHL history.  Fine.  He still was elite.

Broke it down above. And I agree.

This also means, that by digging back up to where "goalie" is the main issue, we're back to 2014, when we traded Miller.

Other words - right near the beginning of the tank.

Let it be known: The signing of Taylor Hall marked the Official end of the Great Tank

Let's hope so!

He was not the only one.

Taylor Hall must think that many of the Buffalo sports media are homelesss.

I was embarrassed for some of them.

I could not agree more. Harrington and PHam also looked like they just rolled out of bed.

Well, I just listened to Hall's presser.  Great stuff, and highly recommended.

He's honest, articulate, earnest and is very psyched to be here.

I think he's going to put up a big year and then re-sign here.  And then we'll have a better combo on our top line than Matthews and Marner for the next 5 years.

Mittelstadt for Kuemper

bring Pilut back to be #2 LHD ( he has an out clause on his KHL contract

Trade Miller for a 3rd and Hutton for a 7th

goalie situation solved, d solved, cap fine, playoff team

Why would Pilut come back, and why would he be 2D?

Why is Miller only worth a 3rd, and who is taking Hutton?

So many questions about your armchair moves.

Pilut- because it’s a new GM and they tell him they will actually play him in the NHL.  Probably 3rd pair.

Miller at $4M probably isn’t even worth a 3rd.

Probably no one is taking Hutton.  Bury him in the AHL.

Botterill however must be pretty steamed.

JB has zero cause to be steamed.  I am highly confident TP authorized him to bring in any FA he wanted.  He just couldn't execute, on decisions big or small.

Love the first move

Pilut would have to buy out His KHL Contract to get out of it

I would move Montour or Risto for a bigger return

Hutton to waivers

I haven't developed a firm stance on Botterill, just yet.

JB had the Ok to spend to the cap and brought in Frolik and Simmonds. .

Adams was probably told to be frugal in his UFA expenditures unless he could land one of the big UFAs Hall or Pietroangelo.

So he did

In an alternate universe, the Sabres accepted that Risto for Hall trade years ago, and it's Rasmus Ristolainen who just signed a 1 year, 8 million dollar deal with the Sabres.

In fairness, it MIGHT be easier to build a winner with constraints than without.  Muckler with an open wallet bought every Euler has been he could find.  Muckler on a budget brought in Peca, McKee, Zhitnik, Satan, & Hecht among others.
