But there's no way Seattle will take that contract unless Adams gives them something to do so. 1 minute ago, WildCard said: Interesting points. When is the expansion draft? Most likely a day or 2 before the entry draft. 1 Quote

This deal qualifies Girgensons to be the 2nd guy and there's no way he gets selected. (They're likely going to take either Ullmark or whoever else not named Hutton he platoons with or a D.) So the Sabres effectively have protected 11 skaters in the draft (the 7 & 3 they actually protect) plus Z. And if Hall re-signs, bump that to 12. Not bad for ~$500k of overpayment. 4D chess. We can only hope to keep up. 1 Quote
Gabrielor Posted October 12, 2020 Report Posted October 12, 2020 Day -1 of FA, I was ok with this deal. Now that I've seen the market, this deal was absolutely terrible. If Larsson get's 1.4 on the open market, Girgensons wasn't seeing more than 1.5. We needed defensive forwards, so I'm glad they remembered that. This was an overpay though, for a decent 4th liner. Keeping Larsson at 1.4 over Girgensons at 2.2 would have me beyond excited about this team. Quote

Have assumed it's Lazar, but maybe it's Girgensons. I think it'll be Lazar too, and I'm not sure Lazar's aptitude as a left winger anyways, but Girgensons certainly provides an option, agree. Quote
