He was a team-worst -45 in 46GP on a very bad DET team.

I saw that, but the point totals also seemed decent for a player on a very bad team.

Is he worth a look?

Pretty sure teams can walk away from arb contracts this season so the question of whether his potential arb was going to be too high is moot. It’s a bad move if he isn’t signed.

This.

The other thing that might make sense is there is a more expensive player coming in and this is essentially a space creator.

The Sabres still have more than $32 million in cap space with another 10 players to sign.

So we're hoping for poor evaluation instead of just abominable.

Lol. Because Buffalo.

KA better have a deal in place for Kahun or he should be fired.

This kid has performed at a solid clip offensively in his two years in the NHL and was very solid in his limited time here.  He is a RW but can play anywhere. Just dumb not to re-sign him.

When is the next time Adams will be available to explain this decision?

Tonight he will have a post draft presser

You'd think if they did have a deal close they'd leak the rumour considering Jack Quinn's introductory social media posts (which I hope he isn't reading) are being flooded with big kahuna energy

According to our local AP guy, Kahun and the Sabres will look to hammer out a deal tomorrow but it definitely sounds like Kahun wants much more than the Sabres are willing to give him and they didn’t want to deal with arbitration.

I think he is.  But I know nothing of the Fancystats.

So basically it comes down to - was it worth it to forgo the QO and lose exclusive negotiating rights in an effort to avoid arbitration?

If they are close to a deal and are trying to show good faith, yes.

If not... no.
