Saw Van Halen 1984 in Vancouver on acid. Great show.

‘82 In the Pacific Coliseum, ‘86 at BC Place and ‘96(?) at GM Place.

Yeah he’d been battling that for years but it had spread elsewhere.

I have regularly teased my wife that I'd like the recessional of my funeral mass to be this song - LOUD.

And then there’s Diamond Dave, doing a bizarre striptease act in the middle of EVH’s insane shredding.  One of the craziest pairings in music history.

"Jump" was, by far, the best entrance song the Winnipeg Jets have ever had.

And coincidentally my least favorite VH song.  I don't count the Van Hagar stuff as it's just a different genre of music to my ears.

His work on Unchained changed my life.

And for my money, the best pairing this side of Gilmour and Waters.  Roth is super annoying and I'd probably want to fight him too but he was the mold front men chased.

Not just front men!

I’m partial to the Reis/Froberg pairing but that’s for another thread.

His work on Fair Warning is what influenced me to start playing guitar. He was ahead of his time mastering the hammer-on unlike no other.

Jump was still DLR, and it may possibly be one of his most corny videos doing his big leg kicks.

Sucks.  Losing more and more performers that were influential to me.  And more quickly too.  Getting old too fast.

VH sent me down the path as a fan of rock/metal.  First band I really went nuts over.

Pretty cool video of the VH sound check from Silver Stadium in Rochester back in 86. The one and only time I saw them live. BTO and Kim Mitchell opened up for them. I had forgotten about Sammy climbing the scaffolding to the top.....without safety equipment. Maybe because it was the one and only time I tried shrooms.
