dudacek Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Right player, right contract. Happy for him, he seemed to really want this. Hope he has arrived as an NHL player. 6 Quote
That Aud Smell Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 penciled in as the 4C? this means no larsson? Quote

Pencilled in as the 13th forward, regardless if we sign Larsson. Likely 4C if they don't sign Larsson, but they will give Asplund a look there as well. I don't expect Larsson back; few do. 1 1 Quote
Curt Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 12 minutes ago, That Aud Smell said: penciled in as the 4C? this means no larsson? For $800,000 he could be anything. 4C, 4W, checking line forward, 13th forward, waived to Rochester if he stinks. 1 Quote
Stoner Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 This contract is going to look very good in the rear-view mirror. Back to you, Irv! 2 Quote
Gabrielor Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Good term, good money, good 12th-13th forward, and personally like the player. Good personality fit for Buffalo. 1 Quote
Zamboni Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Yea I’m good with that. Very fair. 1 Quote
PerreaultForever Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Good. Appropriate contract for a guy who worked hard and earned a spot last year (even if it was on a bad team). Much more appropriate than the 2 million somebody wanted to pay him in the other thread. Good move, but ultimately not that significant. But it's a start. Quote
Marvin Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Gotta start somewhere. This is a good place. Quote
Shootica Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 More years and cheaper than I expected. Good deal, and good for Lazar. Really liked him last year, and seems like a good guy. 1 Quote
sweetlou Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 May not have the offensive upside as Tampa's Gourde, but I see him being the energetic spark plug for the Sabres. Good signing. 1 Quote
Mustache of God Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 I like it. Feeling like our 4th line will be Asplund - Lazar - KO. I can't envision a world where Zemgus or Larsson don't want to test free agency and go to a more competitive team. It also blows my mind we have 3 more years of Okposo. 1 Quote
DarthEbriate Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 Execute Order... Five. 1 Quote
Taro T Posted September 24, 2020 Report Posted September 24, 2020 2 years, barely over the league minimum AAV. What's not to love about that deal. (Hope that doesn't mean Larsson is absolutely gone. It shouldn't. But now they have a worst case 4C that isn't a train wreck. Leaving 3C as the one C that doesn't have at least someone known to be adequate pencilled in.) Quote

I don't see the two as linked, really - Larsson wasn't the 4c by ice time. I could see Lazar replacing the 4C by ice time. 2 hours ago, dudacek said: Pencilled in as the 13th forward, regardless if we sign Larsson. Lazar would be a hoot. Edited September 25, 2020 by Thorny 1 Quote

I'm getting that sense as well. I think we need to add another cheap depth piece to challenge Asplund and maybe be the 13th forward if that's the case. And we need to be cognizant of who on the roster is capable on the PK, cause we're lacking there. Quote

Cost-cutting plus Larsson probably wanting a taste of a better team plus him being a UFA plus a commitment to Lazar probably equals Larsson gone. 1 Quote
Eleven Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 People who pulled a "yawn" on the Staal trade, this is what you really were looking for. 4 Quote
Andrew Amerk Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) Any hockey player who takes a bite out of a cheeseburger thrown onto the ice is well worth this contract. I believe it’s called “character.” Edited September 25, 2020 by Andrew Amerk 3 Quote

In The Buff Posted September 25, 2020 Report Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) I saw $1.6M & was like theres no way that was per year. Love the deal, 2 years at $800k is less than I thought it'd take, but only by a couple hundred K. Great move by KA. Locks in a good depth player who is solid at faceoffs & who seems genuinely happy to be here. Hoping he's a late bloomer & he continues to work on his game & can be a solid bottom 6 player for us. KA getting things done, i like it! Edited September 25, 2020 by In The Buff Quote
