dudacek
if you're going stopgap, Staal is the perfect player. Not sure why the Wild did it.
dudacek
One year, $3.25 for Staal, that's a million less than Mojo. He also put up 47 points this year, considerably more than Mojo, and plays a more important position. Are we sure this is one-for-one? Brawndo
The deal was one for one

IKnowPhysics
Nice. We'll see what the details are. Johansson was to make $4.5M this year, Staal $3.25M, both until the end of the season. Kevyn Adams played with Staal in CAR.

Wyldnwoody44
Did not expect to trade Johansson, Is Stall getting too old or is this solid?

Popular Post nfreeman
Staal turns 36 in October. He has 1 year left on his contract at $3.25MM. (Mojo has 1 year left at $4.5MM). This year, he had 47 pts in 66 games, averaging just over 17 min per game. The previous year, he had 52 pts in 81 games, averaging just over 18 min per game. He's played 82, 82, 81 and 66 games in the last 4 seasons. He's a lock for #2C, and figuring out the rest of the top 9 just got a lot easier. Great freaking first move by KA.

Taro T
Awesome! Can't stand Staal, but he fits the need ideally as a 1-2 year 2C. 1

Staal is old as dirt, but he put up 47 points in 66 games last year and 52 and 76 the two years previous. He can still play and as of the last time we saw him he was a solid 2C Edited September 16, 2020 by dudacek
Taro T
So, do Staal & Skinner finally play on a line together?
dudacek
I think I posted about what a good fit he would be weeks ago, but kinda rejected the idea because Minny ain't got any centres. Maybe they are about to move Dumba out for a centre. Just now, Taro T said: So, do Staal & Skinner finally play on a line together? I'd like to see VO and Cozens on either side, put Jeff back with Jack.
Taro T
Still would like to see Danault or Cirelli in a trade, but this makes a deal for either easier to walk away from if necessary.

Yep. Considering the price, I don't think I see a downside to this deal. And I like Mojo. Edited September 16, 2020 by dudacek
