This system is a complete wonderment.  In no universe should the Habs, Coyotes, or Blackhawks be in the "playoffs."  It's a clown show.

Are you saying that the NHL shouldn’t do this every year moving forward?

Teams 9-24 battling in a 5 game qualifying series to determine who moves on to play 1-8?

Well, what do you think is wrong with that idea?

It seems to have provided some very interesting results in the current experiment.

Interesting != good.

When 16 out of 21 teams made the playoffs in the 80s, it was ridiculous.

This also is.

Yes, but this isn’t 24 teams making the playoffs, only 16/31.

This is more of an extension of the regular season to determine which of the teams 9-24 in a best of 5 series deserve to battle 1-8 for the Cup in actual playoffs.

Seeing seeds 23 and 24 advance in this current experiment has me wondering if the NHL actually accidentally stumbled upon something.

TO.

Down three with 335 left in their season, they tied it up against the CBJs.

Oh. Sorry I misunderstood, I thought someone had scored 3 empty netters, not that TO scored 3 goals with their tendy pulled.

I actually think that was a good call on Foligno.

Sorry. (Not sorry.)

Too late for me to root for Minny.  Goodnight.

They aren’t playoffs. They are playoff qualifiers ?

Is Strome even playing? I haven't been giving it my full attention, but I don't recall hearing his name.

Not getting a 2C vibe.

I have watched the last couple of games in this series and was thinking the same thing.  His line (with Nylander and Caggiula) was terrible.

Strome is like a cheap hail mary 2C while we wait for 8/Cozens, imo. Like a mittelstadt++. I do hope Chicago isn't the team we're discussing with (there's only  3 possible teams I've liked, actually :))

I guess I'd still bring Strome in if the price was cheap and if a better option isn't available, but I would not be confident about substantial improvement in the 2nd line.

When a #24 seed, or whatever you call it, has a chance to win the cup ... they are in the playoff.

Same as in Euro2020 (sorry now 2021) they have 8 counties in the playoff for the last 4 remaining spots in the finals.  Each of those 8 teams right now has the same chance at winning the Euro2020 (2021) as any group winner.

This is why we call them extra attacker goals.  ?

Is there no difference between an empty net goal and a net empty goal?

Lehner is playing great for VGK. Why can’t we have a goalie like that?

Lehner is Tim Murray for me in a nutshell: he had an eye for spotting talent, but not a clue how to nourish or blend it.
