Weave Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 Sabres in the playoffs? FFS end the season. What a travesty. 3 1 Quote
dudacek Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 Jack Eichel in a first-round playoff series against the Leafs? I don’t care about the circumstances, it would be the most interesting hockey Sabres fans have seen in more than a decade. I would forgive 2020 for everything if this came true. 6 Quote

msw2112 Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 The Sabres don't deserve to be in the playoffs, but if this scenario happens and they "get in," it will be interesting to see what they can do and we should allow ourselves to enjoy it. When the Sabres turn it on, they can play with just about anybody. Perhaps they will do that in a playoff type scenario. 1 Quote

darksabre Posted April 29, 2020 Report Posted April 29, 2020 Imagine the Sabres getting into the playoffs and going on an epic Cup run so that we have to spend the rest of our lives getting chirped for winning it on the back of a global pandemic. Quote

Randall Flagg Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 Idk, I don't think it'd be worth a summer of triumphcommunes condescendingly telling us that Botterill "ended the playoff drought" Quote

Win a Cup in the middle of a pandemic by making the playoffs when you wouldn't have otherwise, then winning short series on neutral ice with no fans? The prophesy would come true: the Buffalo Sabres would win a Stanley Cup, and I'd still find something to bitch about. 1 Quote
nfreeman Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 Why don't we just fervently hope for Sabres vs Leafs in a weird 2-out-of-3 playoff series and not worry just yet about a Cup with an asterisk. 3 Quote

I can't believe you aren't assuming the Sabres are going to hoist the Cup. In September. In Cheyenne. Edited April 30, 2020 by PASabreFan 2 Quote
thewookie1 Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 To be honest, I'd be happy just to win the Cup even regardless of the circumstances. You can put a million asterisks for all I care but I just want to see Sabres players lifting the Cup! **************************** 3 Quote
Randall Flagg Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 The Sabres' roster is bad enough that there is zero chance we'll have to worry about this debate They WOULD beat the Leafs first tho 1 Quote

Pimlach Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 I would love to see this. Beating Toronto would be the season. The asterisk is a perfect way to change the fortunes of this troubled franchise. 1 Quote
SHAAAUGHT!!! Posted April 30, 2020 Report Posted April 30, 2020 Kudos to the league for coming up with a fun, interesting, and only slightly controversial solution. Even if it doesn't happen (which it probably wont) it shows the people running the league do have some legitimately creative ideas. Quote
