Yes, it is. But THAT is what made that game special. People that were watching the version broadcast on MSG had tuned in for the fact it was the last game in the Aud. Not for them beating a bad team's backup goalie in a meaningless game. And they sure as s### didn't tune in to see Barry Buetel and some fat chick give meaningless awards to Randy Burridge. If they were showing a cool game from that season for the sake of showing the game, they should've shown the last home game vs Moe-ray-all. The Habs kicked the Sabres butts on the scoreboard, but the Sabres kicked the Habs butts literally right from the opening faceoff. If people wanted to find the Whalers game on YouTube, they could do that anytime. The producers screwed the pooch with their editing choices. 1 Quote

No matter how long the game took in real time, they are editing it into two hour blocks. Edit: the 4 OT game vs. the Devils with Hannans goal, was a three hour block I believe. But all others are two hours Yes, the 70 save game was edited to fit 3 hours, starting the broadcast in the middle of the 3rd. The version shown on NHL Network shows portions of the 1st & 2nd, but unfortunately w/ the Devils broadcasters (who actually are better than Gurtler). So, they easily could show a 3 hour broadcast provided there weren't any issues brought up by the league or the other team (or the deceased Empire for those post over the air, pre-MSG broadcasts). Not sure if it's a rights issue thing or simply a tradition thing. Nobody ever shows intermission / halftime shows when rebroadcasting any already played games. Quote
Gatorman0519 Posted March 28, 2020 Report Posted March 28, 2020 Sad to think this would be the last truly great magical moment at the arena for now 13 years and counting . 1 Quote
