It's the only theory I can come up with as to why every player is listed 2-3" taller than they are.  

Every team in every sport publishes themselves at bigger heights and weights. We did it for our school team. I played at 6’1” 175 lbs and was listed at 6’2” 185 lbs. Outside of combine height there’s not much you can trust.

There are some smaller guys that are tough and play that way.  
 

Danny Gare and Michael Peca come to mind.
