John Gertler?

Yes John Gurtler. He was hard to listen to. Still does Bandits games I believe.

Also, how was Mogilny captain over Hawerchuk, in place of LaFontaine? Very strange. I had moved away from Buffalo by that point so I don’t remember the reasoning at the time.

Yeah certainly better than Gurtler, but definitely wish this was RJ calling the game. It would be  a whole different level of excitement.

Listen to the crowd. That’s what I miss most about old time Sabres hockey. It used to be exciting and the crowds were amazing, especially in the Aud. The current state of the franchise is just that much more depressing when hearing and seeing how good it used to be. Great memories.

That two line off side rule was the worst

Just imagine the offensive numbers that would have been put up in the 80s-90s if that didn’t exist back then??  Gretzky, Lemieux and others would have been putting up 100+ goals a year easily.

It’s amazing that those Sabres teams with Hawerchuk and LaFontaine never did anything in the playoffs. Two major superstars and we didn’t take advantage.

Patty's injuries huge factor

How did Stevens not get thrown out of the game?

1994 vs. 2020

An era that will never ever return no matter how hard some fans hang on and wish it wasn’t so ?

If the pitch of the seats at the KBC were less than they are now, but more then the Aud, it would be inherently “louder”. The way it’s pitched along with a bad product most years, makes it so much quieter. A shame.
