Hasek to start in goal

cut.jpg

Dominik Hasek had only just taken the reigns as an NHL starting goaltender when the Buffalo Sabres met the New Jersey Devils in the 1994 Eastern Conference Quarterfinal.

It was the beginning of a career that belongs on the short list of the greatest in history, yet even Hasek would never turn in another performance quite like the one he gave inside Memorial Auditorium during Game 6 of that series, on April 28, 1994 - nor would any other goaltender, for that matter.

I forgot that LaFontaine was out almost that entire year, what could have been

In game seven La Fontaine dressed and came out for warm ups, just for show I think. Bernie Nichols was yelling at him, “Are you playing?”

I have an early morning tomorrow.  Hopefully we get this one done in regulation so we can move on to game 7.

Thankfully, to save time, Empire is picking up the action in the third period.

It sucks that these games are probably just going to be on MSG and NHLtv probably wont carry them.

They've got a 2:08 Hannan spot and a 2:42 Hasek 70 saves spot. So... just think of the extra time you'll have available.

Myself, I might watch the 7-6 Ottawa game tonight. Or... try to sync-watch The Big Lebowski with my Dad tonight. He's starting to get a little stir-crazy.

Just at the car dealership purchasing my sleek new Ford Escort and Ill be working tonight: Would anyone be nice enough to page me updates of the score?

Hoping my beeper blows up with lots of updates!

If I can get my rabbit ears to get a strong signal I’ll update you.

i need to put more tinfoil on the ends since it’s rainy and cloudy today.

You really need to get with the times and look into a satellite.  Sure it takes up my entire backyard, but I never have to worry about a Bills game being blacked out again.

I posted this years ago.  I shared a luncheon table with Stephane Richer, once.  He’ll remember that night and Hasek forever.  He’ll also remember “getting Phil Housley traded to Winnipeg.”

Unravel a wire hanger, wrap one end around your antenna, the other end around a wire music stand, and point the base at the transmitter.  It's how I got HNIC out of London, Ont. when I was in Cleveland.
