Randall Flagg Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 This is the first time since the first ten games that the Sabres can take any ten game chunk of the season and say they won more than five of them. Quote

Imagine if they hadn't laid an egg against Ottawa? 1 Quote
Stoner Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 No idea if RaKru did this on purpose, but Girgensons et al out there at the very end was the perfect finish. Quote

Thorner Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 Great win. Absolutely need to beat my home town team tomorrow and derail their playoff hopes Quote

I don't know, I can imagine quite a bit. Hutton winning a game in Nov or Dec or Jan. Skinner scoring in 2020 before today. And --- a fascinating stat from the Pens broadcast today: This is their first consecutive loss in regulation since... November!? If the Sabres avoid the ghastly stretches (10 losses in 11 back in Nov-Dec; 6 losses in 7 in midseason), then they're right there with the playoff bubble. 2 Quote
Scottysabres Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 Nicely Done Boys!!! Enjoyed the win, get some rest, and be prepared to Saddle Up, 1500 tomorrow! Quote

It's too bad they couldn't have had just one more good player on this team back in October. They might be tied with Toronto for that last spot instead of being 8 points back. 1 Quote

If only we had had a surplus of some position that could have been used to cobble together a package for a center on an expiring contract or two-year contract from some rebuilding team... yup. Back in November there was no way to know Hutton was going to fall apart, but there was a solid roster and Mitts and MoJo already were known to not be the answer this season. Alas... next year, I guess. (Still possible mathematically, but it'd require womp-rat style accuracy.) Quote
... Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 So, if they could keep playing well, is there still a chance they could contend for the last wildcard slot? Quote
GASabresIUFAN Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 Best road game of the year? Top 4 or 5 best played games of the year? Play like this and Jbot actually supports the team, we still have a shot at the playoffs. Need to build on this and they need to play with this desperation each night. 1 Quote

Yes!!!!! Botterill, get them the pieces they need! Not rentals, maybe 1. But hockey trades that will go beyond this season AND help this season. Quote
... Posted February 22, 2020 Report Posted February 22, 2020 I mean, at least it's late February and the games still mean something. Maybe they could extend that through March? Quote

Toronto is more likely, as there's only TOR and FLA to surpass. There are 5 teams to jump for the wildcard. Too many loser points as those teams clamp down against each other. There is a chance, but it's of the magnitude of 16-5 or better down the stretch. Possible, but very very unlikely. 1 Quote
